i'm not saying it's because i'm female! just wanted to know if i had to pull my dash apart to check the light, that's all! i did the check you said to verify the system is armed and it didn't work. what next? do i have to take it in or is it something i can fix myself??

Yes we know how, but you are saying u can't because u are a female, right? did u verify the system operation by the test I outlined???

U KNOW WE HAVE WOMEN MECHANICS IN MY UNION, DARN PRETTY ONES, THEY CAN DO IT SO CAN U. FEMALE IS NO EXCUSE.

TO EASILY VERIFY THAT THE SYSTEM IS ARMED AND WORKING JUST LOCK THE CAR WITH THE REMOTE AND LEAVE THE DRIVERS WINDOW ROLLED DOWN, REACH INSIDE AND OPEN THE DOOR, THIS WILL SET THE SECURITY SYSTEM OFF AND VERIFY IT WORKS.

Several GM products, including the Chevrolet Impala and Malibu, the Oldsmobile Alero, the Pontiac Grand Prix, and Saturn Ion, have issues with the Security light coming on. This is many times an indication of a failing Body Control Module (BCM). Initially, the Security light will come on then go off, progressing to a constant on light, before the car will refuse to start. Other symptoms may include erratic action of electronics, a clicking sound coming from the glove box, and the air conditioning failing to blow cold air. I recommend a shop that specializes in the electronic systems of vehicles to diagnosis and make the necessary repairs. They should keep the car until they replicate the symptoms described. A new BCM from GM should cost about $230; plan on another $200 for them to diagnose the problem, replace the unit, and program the new unit. The dealers quote between $700 and $1,100 for the same repair. My experience and the experiences I have read on the internet, indicate the new BCM should last only about a year.

Where is the anti-theft system located in the car and how do you reset it.

the anti- theft system is integrated into the BCM(body control module) under the driver's side of the dash. is the security light flashing? if so turn the key to start then to the run position, leave the key in the run position until the light stops flashing. you may need to repeat these steps 3 times for the car to start.

2005 avalanche 5.6 LT Z71 at times will not start, well...starts but stops right away, when it starts none of the gauges work, windows, door locks, radio, air, they may or may not start working, sometimes...

This sounds like an "anti theft security" problem to me. Symptoms: Start and stop within 5 seconds or less. Random starting problems, good one day bad the next. SECURITY light illuminated on dash somewhere. (might not be lit due to the bypass that HAD to be done to install remote start) Read up on this link and compare symptoms.

07 ford focus anti theft light flashes all the time

If the security or anti-theft light is flashing when you attempt to start your car, and the engine does not crank or does not start, you have an anti-theft problem. The system may not be recognizing your key's key-less entry signal, or there may be a fault in the anti-theft module or wiring.
There is a reset procedure to stop this anti-theft light flashing.many a times this helps The reset procedure is as follows:-- Reset the alarm by locking and unlocking the drivers side door.Do this a couple of times and then check it will reset the factory security system . If the reset procedure does not helps then its time to get the anti-theft system checked. There is a short circuit in the anti-theft system wiring. '05 Chevy Malibu Wil Not Start

is the security light blinking on the dash? If so you need to rreprogram the key to the anti theft module. to do this, turn key to on...let sit for about 10 min or so until the security light flashes. turn key off.. count o 5. vehicle should start. if not then it will have to go to the dealer to have it specifically reprogrammed as the PCM and anti theft modules both no longer reconize the key code.

2005 Chevy Malibu Anti-theft system indicator light

I just had this to happen to me - here's what you do - when it will not crank - turn your key over to ACC and let it stay on here for 15 minutes, the THEFT SYSTEM light will stop flashing. Turn your key back to OFF then turn it over as normal when starting and it will start right back up! Found it out from an auto store! One lady paid over $700 and then found this out!!!
