Hi Scott, If the alarm is an after sales unit it has a knock sensor fitted which has an adjustable sensitivity. ask your dealer where it has been installed and then lower the adjustment. Regards John

The car is producing a very loud continuous sound, which we can only stop by disconnecting the battery. What is causing this?

There are a few possible reasons why your car might be producing a very loud, continuous sound that can only be stopped by disconnecting the battery. Some potential causes include:
1. A faulty starter motor: If the starter motor is faulty, it can cause a loud grinding or buzzing noise when attempting to start the car.
2. A malfunctioning alternator: If the alternator is not functioning properly, it can cause a loud whining or grinding noise.
3. A stuck fan belt: If the fan belt is stuck or has become worn and is slipping, it can cause a loud squealing noise.
4. A stuck horn: If the horn is stuck, it can cause a loud, continuous honking sound.
To determine the cause of the loud noise, it is recommended to have the car checked by a professional mechanic. They will be able to diagnose the issue and suggest the appropriate repairs. In the meantime, to stop the noise, you can try disconnecting the battery as a temporary solution. However, it is important to identify and fix the root cause of the issue to avoid further damage to the car.

Cant star 1996 jimmy after security alarm goes off

Is it a factory security alarm or aftermarket? Are you disarming the alarm using the fob? What happens when you try to start the Jimmy after disarming the alarm - do you get only a flashing "Security" or "Theft" light, or do you just hear a loud click noise?

Your owners manual should have a troubleshooting chapter. It also has codes many times for tire pressure causing lights to go on.

My 2003 ford explorer, alarm goes off for no reason, horn blowing, light flashing. help

Adjust the sensitivity of the alarm system.

It may be too sensitive and is being set off by the glass breaking sensors.
loud noises usually set this off if it is too sensative.

Alarm Malfunctioning - 2004 Sable

Have your battery checked for shorts. Mine was defective on a new Lincoln. Same problem. Even sat in it at 18 degrees one night to appease neighbors whom my alarm woke up.
Check connections at every possible point if the battery tests good.
Get up 30 minutes before alarm usually goes off and see if neighbor has loud car or slams his car door. Motion sensors can set it off too.

A very loud alarm/horn noise coming from the car

The steering wheel horn pad/button doesn't have enough clearance. In very cold weather, the contacts touch, sounding the horn. Replace or repair the horn pad
