Replacing Blower Motor Resistor

Need diagram of how to change out Blower motor resistor. 2003 T&C Chrysler with automatic climate control. After work one day, the blower just took over and runs full speed. If you turn OFF the power button, the re-circulation mode comes on. The temp controls work ok. The Rear system is OK.

I'll try the resistor block thing.

I have the same problem as bsizelove. I am curious if the resister block cured the problem or not.

  2. Open the glove box.
  3. Flex both sides of the glove box bin inward near the top far enough for the rubber glove box stop bumpers to clear the sides of the glove box opening, then roll the glove box downward.
  4. Reach through the glove box opening to access and disconnect the instrument panel wire harness connector for the blower motor resistor from the resistor connector receptacle (Blower Motor Resistor).
  5. Reach through the glove box opening to access and disconnect the blower motor pigtail wire connector from the resistor connector receptacle.

Only the fan climate control is not working. The display climate control is working but only the fan.

That is the heater / AC blower motor ! There are electrical circuits and relays and blower motor resistor , blower motor etc... Electrical testing is the way to diagnose blower motor circuit . Looking at a wiring diagram to see what controls the blower motor on your particular vehicle would be the first step in diagnosing your problem . Do you know how to do automotive electrical testing , how to read or follow a wiring diagram ? Videos on youtube show how to test blower motor and related parts and wiring . Heater switch replacment

Hello! it's my job to make things as easy for the customer as possible...Therefore I must ask why you want to replace the heater switch? Is it because you have lost one or two of the switch speeds? Your vehicle is noted for loss of the Blower Motor Resistor...
Changing the Heater switch means removal of the Climate Control Assembly which is not the easiest of jobs...I've included the process...But are you sure the blower resistor is OK? If you have lost 1,2, or all blower motor speeds it's more than likely the Resistor pack. And a lot easier to change...

A/C Blower Switch on chrysler----- Blower works in

Chrysler vehicles are notorious for the blower motor resistor going out. If your Town & Country has automatic climate control use a SMP RU399, else use an SMP RU362 for the front resistor and a SMP RU490 for the rear. They are generally located on top of the blower motor/wheel assemblies.

Front climate control blower only works on high speed.

Replace your blower motor resistor
Resistor located under dash on passenger side in screwed into blower housing. May be able to be repaired. Requires soldering a small piece of "unmelted solder" across where the old fusible link was. look carefully at resistor. Or else just replace. Buy new. Junkyard resistor likely to be as bad as yours.

Blower motor or resistor?

Yes its the blower motor resistor.

More then likley theres some trash or something in it, or possibly the motor itself is on it's way out. There not that bad to pull out of that body car, just pull it out and see what you can see.

The blower motor is under the glove compartment

You can replace the resistor on your own. Please find a detailed diagram which would guide you to do it.
