Depends to the climate you do have and the distance you do have traveling. For my Country Cyprus which is a hot climate between 40-45 celcious I recommend the oil change every 3000 miles not more.
The leak is probably unrelated to the oil change, at least in a bad way. Many vehicles are poorly designed for oil changes. Oil gets on several components under the engine and could leak for a couple of days. You'll have to find the leak yourself if they are unwilling or unable to do it and you don't want another shop to look at it just yet.
Keep in mind that the older a vehicle gets, the more leaks it has. Place a piece of clean cardboard under the vehicle when you park it. Check above where you see the spot on the cardboard if it still leaks. Since the oil is traveling down, keep tracing upwards until you don't see oil leaking or seeping and you have found the location of the leak. Keep in mind as well that oil can be slung by the engine belts if you have any seals on the front of the engine leaking.
If you are saying your oil level is low, then you need to add oil to your engine. If you are concerned that the oil level was low after your long drive, it would depend on how long it has been since you added oil or even checked your oil level.Engines will consume oil over a long period of time. Especially if the oil is not changed according to manufacturers recommendations. Unless the low oil level was sudden I would not be concerned. If it happenedsuddenly and in a short period of time, look for an oil leak of indication of the engine burning the oil, such as smoke at the exhaust pipe.
i would reccomend a fuel additive every 40k to clean injectors/lines,if this dont help then you will be spending some money to rectify.by the way, dropping the tank does only required when water found in filter assembly.oil filter should be done every 15km.when you change oil.clutch when slipping occurs.otherwise you dont get the full life out of them...my car has 120,000 miles on the clock with the original clutch, not unusual.....
