My guess is you having a wire ground issue. Remember you both your engine and the body needs ground.
Do you know what a wiring diagram is ? How to use a DMM - digital multi-meter to check B+ voltage to the alternator ? Instead of just trying to fix by replacing alternators multiple times ! Free wiring diagram's here http://www.bbbind.com/free_tsb.html Enter vehicle info. Year , make , model an engine size. Under system click engine. Then under subsystem click on charging . Click the search button ,then the blue link. Looking at the wiring diagram i see multiple connections at the alternator , they should all have B+ voltage . With volt meter do voltage drop testing. Sounds like you could have a high resistance problem when warm .

Hi, I can't tell you exactly what is wrong because there is too much involved at this point, what with 2 shops working with it, but I can give you some advise on what else to check. On the alternators and the wiring that supports them a small volt charge is taken off one of the slip rings, where the brushes ride, for the purpose of turning out the light. As I remember, this is a yellow wire that runs back to the dash.
To the alternator, it would be one of the wires that plug into the side of the alternator case.

The original alternator was testing good but decided to change it anyways. The new one tests good as well. Just went & traded out for another new alternator to try. We have had to charge the battery to get power since the 1st new alternator didn't help & it seems IT isn't charging long enough. Will be charging the battery again to try the 2nd new alternator tonight. I hope that we just bought a bad alternator the 1st time and that this one works! Checked all fuses and they are good. Any other suggestions???
