Some people wire trailer plugs differently. If the plug is not wired differently than yours, make sure the tow ball is clean. No rust. That's where the trailer gets its ground from. Usually they will work if thats the case, but not right. I can't remember what the wire colors are right now. Go to etrailer and look up the diagram.

Is this a 4 way or 6 way connection system? If your truck is wrong, then all factory equipped trailer package harnesses would be wrong, tell your trailer guy...I don't think so.
Is this the first trailer you have hauled?
Let me know, and we will go from there.

Have you checked both bulbs , also check closely on all the fuses. if you have to, use a test light and probe all fuses on both sides of the fuses

if you go to a hitch shop they usually have a plug that fit to stock harness for a price but its easier and safer

You may want to get a ground loop isolator or even cheaper. Go to radio shack and buy two 1amp diodes and put them on each turn signal wire. This will eliminate the problem. The diode will be black with a gray line. the line will go towards the trailer on each wire. this should take care of the problem.

make sure the ground wire is hooked up, i've seen many trailers where the ground wire just hangs, then your relying on the ground to work between the ball and the hitch, not typically a good ground.
