I got this car and the horn didn't work. I got it home and realized that it was missing a fuse. so I put one in and the horn stays on. and the security light is on the dash. but idk how to disconnect the entire security system so I think itd be easier to just pull the horn connecter. but is cant find it. suggestions?

hi there it seems that your ignition switch is no good try to replace ignition it relativity a cheap part good luck

Just take every cord connected to the positive side of the battery off for 10 seconds to allow the alarm to reset, then flip the little switch under the dash so the alarm won't activate again.

a few questions to start have you had you vehicle battery replaced lately, or had an after market security/remote starter installed. the vats system is a very touchy system. i run into it alot at best buy. i am the senior car tech there. the second answer you read is the easiest i would just get the bypass module. what is happening is either the factory security system is "bugging out" or sometimes but rare if the resistor in the key or contact point in the tumbler is getting worn out or not making good contact throwing off the ohm reading a bit throwing the vats off. you are lucky if it was working it should engage a starter kill and cut power to the fuel pump which as i have seen happen before can just happen out of the blue. either get a vats bypass or send your computer out to someone who reprograms cumputers after mods have been done to set up the computer to eliminate the vats while your there you can also have different things changed like speed limiter spark curves tweek it for perfomance the sky is the limit but usually runs about two hundred if you have anyother questions i have been restoring and moding 3rd and 4th gens for about ten years now shot me an email to [email protected]

I had a similar problem, took it to get diagnosed and was instructed to give them $1100 because of a faulty reading on the distributer, rather than paying $650 for a unit I found plenty available new for under $200 I bought an OEM for $189. Now the labour can be found cheaper elsewhere. I then discovered that the module may also be at fault but I would have to replace the dizzy first, Then discovered that the Air Flow meter {afm} may need to be taken off and cleaned with a carby cleaning spray, this is a do it yourself fix costing you about $8 a can of cleaner
Unscrew the units clamps and disconnect the plug, I can't stress enough, DO NOT touch the fine wires inside, spray the carbon buildup off the inside and blow/air dry, {do not rinse with water.} reinstall the unit in the reverse of which it was removed, Alternativly you may have fuel blockage in the lines, try replacing the fuel filter {cheapest fix}
Hope this helps

I would say you would have to take off the inside door panel and remove the mechanism and security switch to see why it is jammed in a locked position, even though you have unlocked the door the electric switch {maybe rusted} is still signalling a lock position, the switch may be located on the actual key barrel, but same check to see why its not moving into an unlock position.
hope this helps.

check fuse box for horn relay. It is a square cube relay which plugs into a socket.It should be labeled. Fuse box in engine compartment.
