F 150 supercrew lariet 2001 lost instrument lights, brake lights

Original problem ended up being door ajar light stuck on resulting in the interiorer lights remaining on, bad swith in drivers door. i pulled #1 relay to save battery, truck ran fine, just no interior lights. yesterday when i was removing drivers door panel to accessthe door ajar switch i noticed that i lost instrument panal lights, tail lights(brake lights work) & my headlights dont shut off unlesss i i turn the switch counter clockwise all the way(aux ?) and then to the off position. can running the truck w the #1 relay out cause this? or trying to pull door panel w batt still conected do this?

2001 f-150 supercrew lariat- i pulled #1 relay (interior lighting) due to the drivers side door ajar switch sticking resulting in interior lights staying on. truck runs fine but ran across an additional problem. my instrument lights, tail lights (brake lights work) not working and my headlights work but in order to shut them off i have to turn all the way counterclockwise and then back to off position, which i understand is symptomatic of a bad headlight switch. my question is, can running the truck with the number 1 relay pulled cause this or is this just coincidental.

Removing a relay can cause all kinds of problems. The door ajar switch may have just need to be sprayed with a lubricant to unstick it so the lights would go off.reinstall relay to see if concers goes away.

2005 Ford E350 Van Door locks & dome lights are going on & off on there own

Do you know anything about automotive electronic's ? Control modules ?
Vehicle Security Module
The vehicle security module receives inputs from the following:
  • Door ajar switches
  • Keyless entry keypad
  • Ignition switch
  • Remote keyless entry (RKE) transmitter
The vehicle security module uses these inputs to control an output signal to the instrument cluster which controls the battery saver relay and interior lamp relay. The battery saver relay and the interior lamp relay are internal to the instrument cluster, and are not replaceable. There could be a faulty switch input to the I/C - insturment cluster , causing the vehicle security module to activate the lock's an light's .
Interior Lighting Systems
The instrument cluster grounds the battery saver relay and interior lamp relay coils when any door ajar switch is opened, or the interior lamp (headlamp) switch is closed. The interior lamp relay then supplies voltage to the interior lamp circuit. Vehicle speed must be less than 24 km/h (15 mph) for the instrument cluster to ground the interior lamp relay. The interior lamps remain illuminated for up to 25 seconds after all doors are closed unless the instrument cluster receives an input from any of the following:
  • voltage from the ignition switch.
  • a vehicle speed signal.
  • input from the keyless entry keypad through the vehicle security module.
  • input from the RKE transmitter unlock or panic switch through
  • the vehicle security module.
Do you know what DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes are ?
Could have DTC'S stored in the following Modules
Instrument Cluster Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Index DTC Description Source Action B1320 Driver Door Ajar Circuit Open Instrument Cluster Go To Pinpoint Test C . B1328 Passenger Door Ajar Circuit Open Instrument Cluster Go To Pinpoint Test C . B1342 ECU is Defective Instrument Cluster CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self test. If DTC B1342 is retrieved again, INSTALL a new instrument cluster. REFER to Section 413-01 . All Other DTCs - Instrument Cluster REFER to Section 419-10 .

Vehicle Security Module Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Index DTC Description Source Action B1322 Driver Door Ajar Circuit Short to Ground Vehicle Security Module Go To Pinpoint Test C . B1330 Passenger Door Ajar Circuit Short to Ground Vehicle Security Module Go To Pinpoint Test C . B1338 Door Ajar RR Circuit Short to Ground Vehicle Security Module Go To Pinpoint Test C . B1342 ECU is Defective Vehicle Security Module CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self test. If DTC B1342 is retrieved again, INSTALL a new vehicle security module. REFER to Section 419-10 . B1574 Door Ajar LR Circuit Short to Ground Vehicle Security Module Go To Pinpoint Test C . All Other DTCs - Vehicle Security Module REFER to Section 419-10 .
Your best bet mite be to take to a qualified repair shop .

My 2004 Pontiac grand am se1 acts like door is open and interior light stays on also does t lock on its own when in gear and lights don't blink and horn not honk when locking with key bob

Door ajar switch problem more then likely or wiring issue . The BCM - body control module won't turn off interior light , let door lock because it think's the door is open . The door ajar switch is a input to the BCM .

The first thing would be to have it checked for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes . Also check with an enhanced scan tool to see if the BCM shows ajar switch data (open or closed ? Do you know about body electronics ?

What color are the wires that go from door switch to dome lights on a 2005 mustang v6 conv.

The door switch doesn't go to the dome lights , the switch (door ajar switch ) is an input to the SMJ - smart junction box or body control module take your pick .
Principles of Operation
When the SJB detects a request for lighting, it turns on the interior lamps by supplying power to the lamps. The request for lighting can be an open door signal from a door ajar switch, an interior lighting on command from the instrument panel dimmer switch or an unlock command from a remote keyless entry (RKE) transmitter.
The door ajar switches are hard-wired directly to the SJB. The 2 door ajar switches are normally closed when the doors are closed. The decklid ajar switch is normally closed when the decklid is closed. All door ajar switches receive voltage from the SJB and each has its own ground circuit.
The instrument panel dimmer switch receives a ground signal from the SJB. The instrument panel dimmer switch provides variable resistance for backlighting the instrument cluster and a toggle ON/OFF function for the interior lights.
The RKE receiver is contained inside the SJB. When the SJB receives an unlock request from an RKE transmitter, it unlocks the doors and turns on the interior lamps. There could be DTC'S diagnostic trouble codes stored in the SJB ! You can not access these codes with a OBD2 code reader , need a factory scan tool .
B1319 Driver Door Ajar Circuit Failure Go To Pinpoint Test D . B1327 Passenger Door Ajar Circuit Failure Go To Pinpoint Test D . B2021 Dome Lamp Input Return Circuit Failure Go To Pinpoint Test A . B2550 Dome Lamp Output Circuit Short to Ground Go To Pinpoint Test A . B2554 Dome Lamp Output Circuit Failure Go To Pinpoint Test D . Do you know B-codes -body control .
Your best bet is to take to a ASE certified repair facility or a Ford dealer .

Not a regular cab but Lariat F-150 Supercrew 2003 , the inside and the cargo lights stay on when the truck is shut down ,and now I notice the auto locking doors are not working when you touch the brake...

Is the door ajar light in the cluster illuminated ?

Could be the door ajar switch ( part of the door latch ) is gummed up, and needs to be WD-40 sprayed into it, and close open the doors a few times, and repeat.

The autolock uses the same input, to know to lock the doors when you press the brake pedal while moving.

Removal of drivers door panal. f 150 supercrew lariet 2001

Don't know what to do with the adhesive except to carefully remove with a long screwdriver, putty knife, etc. However, before you do that you should remove the screws in the door handle crevice. The two lower screws seem to come loose on their own so I replaced with one size larger stainless. The upper screws by the door handle are critical to remove the panel AND to secure it...
