Take to a parts store, advance auto, etc., have them pull up trouble shooting codes from ECM, these codes , could be more than one, will pin point your problems. when engine light stays on , its storing codes, and these need addressed asap. as far as that ticking noise, get out might be a bomb, just kidding

You need to get the computer scanned. This can be done at Auto Zone or similar parts stores free of charge. More than likely you will just need new spark plugs and/or plug wires but I cannot be certain without the engine code.
Hope this helps, remember to rate this answer.

SOURCE: 2003 Silverado rough idle, idles good after "check engine" light

Check your o2 sensor voltage, those trucks are real bad for o2 sensors, and yes if one sensor is reading 0mv, the others will start to drop out, and the vehicle will run very, rough. You also may check fuel system pressure, should be almost 60p.s.i. If its alot lower, Id be looking into a fuel pump. If that vehicle is drive-by-wire (no throttle cable), the throttle bodies get very dirty and cause that concern also. Id start by having the vehicle scantested.

SOURCE: hold light blinking, check engine light on, engine slows down

check tps sensor (throttle position sensor in backside of the throttle cable) and map sensor (manifold absolute pressure on front little 1 inch sensor with vacuum line) make sure there plugged in. the ecm (engine control module driver side inner fender) and tcm (transmission control module under dash) both need the data to know when to upshift and increase fuel/air. Otherwise the computer runs default values and guesses off of other sensors giving poor performance. also disconnect battery for 15 min. usually resets aveo service lights if you dont have a scanner.

SOURCE: Rough idle

I had the same exact problem on my 2004 Colorado (3.5L). Cleaned the MAF sensor (with MAF sensor cleaner) and throttle body/plate - cleared it right up.

92 ford e150 it has a rough erratic idle, sputtering/ticking/chugging noise on acceleration and now a ticking noise that seems to be coming from the EGR valve, but I just replaced it,throwing no codes

You have thrown a lot of parts into this and it looks like an internal engine parts issue. You need to have a cylinder leak down test run on it. Sounds like a valve issue.

Oil light comes on and is dinging.

The oil light has nothing to do will oil level, but rather oil PRESSURE. If the engine oil is full and there is no rattling or banging noises in the engine, chances are the oil pressure sending unit is bad. If noises accompany the light, then shut down the engine and troubleshooting the engines internal lubrication system.

Low Oil pressure gauge on 1998 Chevy S-10, with ticking coming from engine

check oil level and check oil pressure with a gauge not the one in the dash. if oil pressure is low then you may have a oil pump problem, or a worn cam causing poor oil pressure which will cause a ticking noise. it could also be worn lifters causing the ticking.

Oil pressure gauge does not reach 40 PSI. Heard the sounds like a loud ticking coming from the engine on the passengers side. Then pressed on the gas peddle and it didn't want to add power. Ticking n

Not sure if there is a question here or not. If the pressure is always below 40 and you are hearing engine noise, chances are the oil pressure really is low. You could replace the sending unit or use a mechanical gauge to verify.

Does the car have a normal oil level on the dipstick? The behavior is consistent with a broken timing belt except for the part about the temperature gauge going to the top which would indicate overheating or a faulty gauge.

2005 ext trailblazer has a problem with the oil pressure gauge. the check presure light on the dash comes on that the pressure goes back to normal. get a ticking noise from engine when this happens?

Don't mess with a potential low oil pressure. Tow it, don't drive, to someone who can check out the oil system and make sure it's working right before you run the engine. If you run it even long enough to drive it to the service shop and it does have a problem, you can wreck the engine bearings. It may be nothing, but it's not worth the risk.

Engine has ticking sound, oil light came on, and it's full of oil

The ticking could be a spark plug wire shorted out to ground of which you can watch in the dark while the car is running and see if you see a plug wire jumping to ground which will look like a lightening bolt hitting the ground. It could also be a lifter making noise. Could be a exhaust leak. What is your oil pressure? Does your gauge tell you pounds of pressure or is it just a light?
