SOURCE: Checking fuses for a 2000 vw beetle turbo

Thanks for responding. Frustrated at spending over an hour on the damn internet looking for a simple diagram of what each fuse covered , driving to a parts store, buying a Chiltons repair manual, changing a few fuses that didn't need changing ( ac still blew hot ) I took it back to the repair shop this am and will let them deal with it.
I think I am going to create a diagram and give it away for FREE so idiots like me can change the fuses and get on with more important things in life.

SOURCE: 2005 vw jetta radiator cooling fan wont shut off

Check for a switch at lower part of rad. Should see a wire harness & plug on a sensor at bottom of rad. This sensor/switch also operates fan on/off according to coolant temperature. You may need to disconnect battery to get at it safely.

The fan or fans that cool the engine are not turned on until the engine coolant reaches about 225-230F, so they may not run for a long time, if it is not overheating why are you concerned.

Why want radiator coolant fans works for a 99

Find Causes of Engine Overheating
If your engine is overheating, Try this procedure:
  • Dirt and debris can get lodged in the radiator air flow paths. This can block the radiator and cause your engine to overheat and damage the engine.

  • The thermostat can be stuck close. If you feel the upper hose very hot and the lower hose cooler than normal, it may be a stuck thermostat.

  • Make sure the radiator and the overflow bottle are filled to the proper levels.

  • Bleed air from the coolant system:This is best done by running the engine with the radiator cap off until you see when the air bubbles stop coming up.

  • Check the radiator fans: The easiest way is to turn on the cars air conditioner and turn up the A/C fans. Both radiator fans should come on when the A/C starts

  • Make a pressure test by using a pressure testing tool (available at most auto parts stores). Use the pressure shown on your radiator cap. Most cars are 16 PSI or less, so don't exceed that pressure. Replace the radiator cap if it doesn't hold the pressure.

2001 VW Beetle 2.0 heater won t heat up

If you flushed the coolant with the thermostat in, chances are you didn't flush the coolant. Regardless, it's easiest to check the controls inside first. Does the blower fan work? Does the air flow change from floor to vent, to dash as it's supposed to? Does the A/C change temps when knob is turned from cold to hot? Post results.

2004 VW new Beetle A/C won't cool. When turning on compressor it doesn't quite load the engine down any. It was cooling but only sitting still. Once I started driving the air got warmer and

speed up engine with air on and see if compressor turns off. if it does then it is low pressure. if it has electric radiator fans they should be on when the ac is on. if they dont work then it will make the pressure higher

Did you check the coolant level? if your low on coolant the sensor for the fans won't work, also could be a bad fan motor or just a fuse, if you continue to over heat the car you can do a lot of damage to the engine, blown head gasket, and the VW's are expensive to repair, take it to a good shop and have them check it out.

2000 vw beetle has engine light on, over heating no hot air

check your water pump, most likley the cause. water pump is plastic vane on metal shaft, the plastic breaks casuing no coolant flow.
