Hello, the 4 power window switch buttons of my 2003 Oldsmobile Alero are no longer illuminited at night. for safety policy at church we need to have windows in classroom doors, found kit for hollow core doors but we have a couple of order original doors that have panels and we want to be able to cut one out and replace it with acrylic. You dont have to take the trrim off on this car look at the outline of the switch open from rear and pull forward then you can change the window switch/ Please rate my response thank you very much

No you don't need any special tool . Find all screws on out side of door trim panel and the window handle , the mirror cover plate , then just pull on edge of the panel .
Gently pry the front side door trim panel (3) from the front side door by disengaging the plastic retainers which secure the panel.
Position the door trim panel (3) away from the door in order to gain access to the front side window switch electrical connector, if equipped.
Disconnect the window switch electrical connector, if equipped.
Remove the door trim panel (3) from the vehicle.
Remove the front side window switch from the door trim panel (3) by releasing the 4 plastic retaining tabs, as needed.
Use a cloth in order to pull off the snap ring which secures the front side door window regulator handle (1), if equipped.
Remove the window regulator handle (1), if equipped.
Remove the front side master window switch, if equipped. Refer to Power Accessory Switch Panel Replacement .
Remove the front side door inside handle (1). Refer to Front Side Door Inside Handle Replacement .
Remove the outside rearview mirror opening cover (2).
Remove the screw which secures the front side door pull handle (4).
Front Side Door Inside Handle Replacement
Removal Procedure
Remove the screw which secures the front side door inside handle (1).
Slide the inside handle (1) forward in order to release the retaining tabs which secure the handle to the door.
Open the front side door inside handle rod retainer and remove the front side door inside handle rod from the inside handle (1).
Remove the inside handle (1) from the vehicle.
Important: When removing a door trim panel or switch plate, disconnect the negative battery terminal. This will eliminate the possibility of shorting out the switch if you use a screwdriver, an awl, or other metal object in order to remove the switch from the harness.
Remove the window regulator handle, if equipped. (manual windows only) Remove the front door warning reflector. Remove the door panel screw (1) through the hole in the door warning reflector opening. Use a flat bladed tool in order to remove the rear deck release switch bezel. Disconnect the rear deck release switch. Use a flat-bladed tool in order to remove the lower switch bezel trim screw access cover. Remove the lower switch bezel trim screws. Remove the lower switch bezel trim panel. Use a flat-bladed tool in order to pry the front door switch bezel upward. Disconnect: Power door lock switch connector, if equipped. Power window switch connector, if equipped. Power mirror switch connector, if equipped (left side only). Gently disengage the front door trim retaining clips and remove the door trim panel from the door.

Front Removal
Remove door latch cover by prying from top edge and pulling trim free of retaining clips and sliding trim away from latch.
Remove portion of armrest containing door lock switch and window regulator control switch (14529) by pulling straight up.
Remove rear view outside mirror mounting hole cover assembly by prying at top and pulling upward to release double-sided clip.

Cover Assembly Rear View Outside Mirror Mounting Hole
Remove screw attaching front door trim panel (23942) to front door (20124) under switch plate.
Remove two screws located at bottom of front door trim panel.
Disconnect the door lock switch (14028) and window regulator control switch electrical connectors.
Remove door window regulator handle if equipped by unsnapping and pivoting away the handle cover from base to expose retaining screw. Remove screw from the door window regulator handle.
Pull front door trim panel from the top to release hooks from front door .
Remove front door trim panel.
Installation
Replace any bent or damaged fasteners.
Follow removal procedure in reverse order.
Body Side Removal
Remove door handle retaining clip by sliding a shop towel between handle and door trim. With tension on the cloth, pull one end of the cloth so it slides between the handle and the door trim. If handle does not come out, reverse direction.
Unfasten 13 christmas tree fasteners using double-acting spring-loaded trim removal tool and pull body side trim panel from body side door.
Remove forward and rearward mating sections from under window trim.
Installation
Replace all christmas tree fasteners.
Follow removal procedure in reverse order.
For installation of handle, install clip to handle, then push handle onto shaft to snap in place.
Back Removal
Disconnect rear window defroster wires.
Remove the liftgate window garnish moulding as described.
Remove screws attaching liftgate handle to liftgate and liftgate inside trim panel.
Using Rotunda Windshield and Moulding Trim Removal Kit 107-R0401 or equivalent, pry pushpins retaining liftgate trim from the liftgate.
Disconnect the negative battery cable. Important:When removing a
door trim panel or switch plate, disconnect the negative battery terminal. This will
eliminate the possibility of shorting out the switch if you use a screwdriver,
an awl, or other metal object in order to remove the switch from the
harness.
Remove the window regulator handle, if equipped.
Remove the front door warning reflector.
Remove the door panel screw (1) through the hole in the door warning
reflector opening.
Use a flat bladed tool in order to remove the rear deck release switch
bezel.
Disconnect the rear deck release switch.
Use a flat-bladed tool in order to remove the lower switch bezel trim screw
access cover.
Remove the lower switch bezel trim screws.
Remove the lower switch bezel
Use a flat-bladed tool in order to pry the front door switch bezel upward.
Disconnect:
Gently disengage the front door trim retaining clips and remove the door trim
panel from the door.
Installation Procedure
Install the front door trim panel to the door. Ensure that the retainers are locked into place.
Connect the rear deck release connector.
Install the rear deck release switch bezel. Press the bezel firmly into
place.
Remove the screw cap and the screw from the inside door handle and slide the
handle rearward to disengage the hook from the inner sheet metal.
Disconnect the inside door handle from the front door latch remote control
link
Remove the two-piece pushpins from the front door trim panel (23942).
NOTE: Use a commonly available spring loaded trim pad removing tool
with a long thin nose to prevent damage to the door trim panel. Release the
seven front door trim panel bullet nose fasteners and push inboard, then upward
to release the front door trim panel.
If equipped, disconnect the master window regulator control switch
electrical connector
Remove the retainer from the master window regulator control switch panel.
Pull outward on the cup retainer tabs and remove.
Remove the master window regulator control switch electrical connector from
the retainer
Remove the door handle bezel.Remove the power window/door lock switch bezel.Remove the rearview mirror fastener trim cover.Remove the 4 door trim panel retaining screws.One that was behind the mirror trim cover,behind the switch panel,behind the door handle bezel,and one at the bottom corner.Lift the door trim panel up from the door to disengage the trim panel clips.Remove the front radio speaker. Disconnect the power mirror wiring connector.Remove the 3 bolts to the mirror.
Remove the sail panel,the little panel on inside of door at the mirror.
Remove the window regulator switch plate, pry up on the front of it with a small pick or screw driver. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
Remove the top door trim panel screw that is behind the sail panel you removed.
Remove door trim panel screw at window regulator switch plate opening.
Remove door trim panel screw in the courtesy lamp housing. Remove the courtesy lamp lens.Remove the screw.
Remove the inside door handle trim cover.
Remove the bolt.
Remove the inside door handle.
Lift upward to remove the front door trim panel.
Remove the courtesy lamp.
Turn the courtesy lamp bulb socket one quarter turn and remove.
Disconnect the power mirror electrical connector.
Remove the three outside rear view mirror nuts.
Remove the mirror.
