The Vue I have does not come with a transmission fluid dip stick. The manual says that the vehicle has to be brought in to a shop to have the fluid checked. How do you check the fluid in this thing. I am live some ways from a shop (hour) and the idea that I cannot check the fluid myself seems like planned obsolencence to me.
Thanks....
Here you go..
Be sure that transmission fluid temperature is at least 104° F (40° C). Models with 2.2L engine: To access check/fill plug: In the engine compartment, remove clamp from air hose behind cooling fan. Separate air tube from the hose and push the tube back towards the transaxle. Remove the clip holding the two power steering lines together. All Models: From underneath vehicle remove the transaxle check/fill plug with engine running. Fluid level should be even with hole. Add fluid as needed until fluid flows from hole. Replace check/fill plug and torque to 9 ft. lbs. (12 Nm).
Saturn used 3 different transmissions, if the pan on the bottom looks like this picture and you have a 4-speed transmission, then you use DEXRON®-VI Automatic Transmission Fluid, If your transmission does not look like this then you have the 5-speed transmission and need special fluid from Saturn, Saturn part no. 22717466.

This solution is helpful and correct, but misses some info for the 2006 Vue with Honda 3.5 V6. The problems on that model are that the "fill plug" is connected to a vent hose and that the "check plug" is invisible. The trick is to remove the left front wheel and pop off the black access cover. Both the check plug and the drain plug, which are both on the left side of the trans facing left, are visible and easily accessible.
I have a 2007 saturn outlook and it blowing transmission fluid out around the dipstick what causes it to do that and where is the transmission vent tube locate at
You can check the fluid level in the transmission. If the transmission is under the vehicle there should be a bolt/plug about halfway up the side of the transmission that you can undo and you should be able to feel the fluid. You would normally fill to the level of the bottom of the bolt/plug hole.
I have a 2006 Saturn Vue with the four-cylinder enginemy trans is slipping also hearing a whistling noise any ideas would be helpful Thanks

It is an automatic transmission, btw.
Thanks....
What fluid should I use, standard off the shelf Transmission fluid?
Many thanks...
Gasket seems to match, at least for a drawing....same number of bolt holes and general shape is the same...
Found the filler cap, but cannot find the level check plug. I found a plug in the general area from the pic, but it seems too high and when I went to remove it, there seemed to be a roll pin holding it in place. Needless to say I decided not to remove it.
I still say this is planned obsolencence. How hard would a filler nect with a dipstick have been?
Thanks for the help...
I have the same problem with my VUE 2006, i can not check the transmission fluid. some body pls help?
