Tailgate won't lock

Sounds like a bad switch on the tailgate. Open your tailgate and look for a switch. When you find it...press it in completely and see if the sensor light goes off. If so, replace it.

will glass pop open with remote or key ,whe nyou turn handle if so you may need to remove tailgate trim panel to acess handle assy so you can open it by moving lock rods inside tailgate panel

Press door unlock switch in car or on remote to release the lower tailgate, even if the hatch is open.

try spraying the latch and mechanism with wd 40, both sides and handle. the bezel where the handle is at just pops out spray the pivot points and the latch cylinders on the sides of gate

The lock actuator motor is most likely sticking due to corrosion, open up the tailgate and replace the electric power lock actuator motor. If you need instructions on how to access the inside parts you can get them here for small subscription fee.

Possible that the lock or the lever is jammed which might require you to rest the lock.

the back panel is on pop studs thats all ,screwdriver to lift it a little and then being carefull use long nose pliers to work your way around prising the pop studs out

is the child safety lock on?

the wiring around the trunk/boot hinge may be broken/opencircuit. the security system thnks the trunk/boot is open use the manual key to get in to the trunk and repair the wiring
