SOURCE: 1997 Pontiac Sunfire (automatic) transaxle

I do not know what you are looking at in the manual, but you probably heard a horrible noise when you put it into park, as the parking pawl tries to hold the car in place. Thist usually does not harm the transaxle. If the engine won't start then something else happened, perhaps the neutral safety switch was damaged or knocked out of adjustment. You might try to move the shifter back and forth and then back into park and then try to restart. If that doesn't work try to put the car in neutral to start. If you must have the car towed somewhere the repair should not be expensive, just have them reset the neutral safety switch.

sounds like you have a vacum leak . pop the hood and look for hoses that look like they are disconected or broken . most common are right above the throtle body

How do I reset the computer on my 2005 Pontiac Aztec

Better to do that with a high end scan tool. You can't do it by disconnecting the battery overnight, but that can cause all sort of new problems. Where you say your speedometer 'sets' at 55mph, do you mean always stays at 55 even stopped, or do you mean if 'sits' at 55 even if you are doing 110?

The most likely cause of all this the VSS (vehicle speed sensor)

In most cases the problem is a dirty throttle body or a faulty idle air control valve.
The computer controls the idle speed by the amount of air going into the throttle body thru the valve.

2003 pontiac aztec wont shift out of park.

You have a few safety catches on there, one, the brake has to be on. It is a switch on the brake pedal, it goes directly to the shifter, a mechanical solenoid, pumps out a pin to prevent the car from going into gear without somebody driving. The second one is the same idea only it comes from the ignition switch, the key has to unlock the steering and the shifter. Also, if it parked up against a curb or something, it will be hard to get out of park. Hope this helps.

When i take it from park into reverse it pops really loud

Do you park on a hill, and not use the parking brake?? When folks don't use the parking brake, the car rolls a bit after you put it in park, and take your foot off the brake. Therefore putting pressure on the transmission to keep the car in place. Then when you start up, and throw it in reverse, it will pop, clunk, make an awful sound.
