1991 Honda Accord "S" light on steady

Seems like the transmission went out, day after it froze hard. Doesn't want to up shift at all, running very slow at lower RPMs. Do I need a new transmission?

It's the transmission computer.Is located under the front carpet on the passenger side.
I had the same problem.

I have seen this in my shop before it sounds like you need a transmission control module. The way to tell is to shift through the gears manually if it shifts you know the trans is ok

I once had one of these cars. Are you able to shift manually through all gears without any problem? I yes, your problem may lie with the Transmission Control Unit. On my vehicle that part went bad and is very expensive. However, I was able to repair it and all of this problem went alway. Good luck.

My tranny is slow shifting and the s light is blinking
The "S" light flashing means the speed sensor went out. Is an easy fix. I got mine for less than $40 and it was not hard to install. As for the gears going in too slow, I dont know. Good luck.

Mine did the same thing. turns out i needed to change the gear selector. But it can be a number of problems. You have to check for a code in your ECU, which is under the passenger side carpet. Its better if you have a mechanic look at it though. Hope this helps a little bit.

It is without question your TMU (Transmission Control Unit) It is located behind the passenger side kick panel. You can buy them on EBay for about 79.00 with exchange it will have a burnt diode and is a common honda problem.

Last year in the summer of 2007 I had the same problem with my 1991 Accord dx. I replaced the Transmission Control Unit (TCU) and the light went out and the car has been driving fine every since.
