Could be a dirty throttle body, faulty idle speed control motor, or vac leak. The computer controls idle speed by opening the throttle plate much like you would with your foot on the gas pedal.

Check accelerator cable, idle air control system and idle speed control motor(ISC), air intake setting and sensors, check the vacuum system. Scan the PCM for diagnostic trouble codes. ISC, vacuum leaks and air intake problems are the most common cause for fast idle on this car.
i have seen this happen in other makes also, that fast idle is controlled by the ecm, if it annoys you talk to the dealer, otherwise its not hurting anythig
CSP, It sounds like you have a vacuum leak that is causing the IAC ( idle air control ) motor to move in and out trying to control the idle. Check all vacuum hoses on the engine for disconnect, cracked or damaged. If the hoses crack when you bend them, they need to be replaced.
