Antifreeze leak in back of engine

1987 Dodge Ram 150 318 engine. I am leaking a small amount of antifreeze and it seems to be coming from the bell housing. Could this be a rear freeze plug and if so, do you have to pull the engine to replace it?

Sounds like your right rear freeze plugs are probably leaking .. but first you need to make sure its not coming from up around the rear of the intake before pulling the transmission . this would be the best way to fix this problem .. thanks jerry holler if you need more.

Why is there antifreezes leaking out of bell housing on a 1999 dodge Cummings diesel engine, is it a freeze plug or a crack in block

there almost certainly will be a freezeplug in that area , but first make completely sure the coolant isn't leaking higher up and looks like from bell housing , get the area steam cleaned and make sure it's not from the head gasket or another freeze plug , 30 minutes spent doing this could save you time and money dropping the gearbox etc , hope this helps

I found a puddle of antifreeze on my drive way under my RAM 1500 today and an empty resivour. I tryed to trace the leak but found nothing. So I refilled the resivour, let the truck run in idle and still...

the best way to find a small leak is to top off the radiator and attach a pump that will pressurize the system and "force" the leak to expose itself, if there is one.

Antifreeze leak

Most sudden leaks are caused by worn water pumps seals or a blown rad hose. depends on amount and location. the water pump has a weep hole on it, just behind the pulley if it is mounted on the front cover of the engine. if it is inside the timing cover the antifreeze will seem to be coming out of the engine. best way to find it is to wash the engine and then try to locate the area where it starts. a small mirror usually helps.

Antifreeze smell in cab, blows warm air not hot

It sounds like you have a leaking heater core. Look for a wet spot on the carpet. There is a slight chance the smell is coming from inside the engine compartment. There could be a small leak from a hose in the engine compartment.

When i run my 1996 dodge ram 1500 it smells like antifreeze. i had the head changed but it smells like antifreeze. what could be the problem?

check the coolant level to see if it has dropped. Then look under the engine, for any leaks.Look for pools of coolant on top of the engine,or run down on the sides of the engine. Then look for radiator hoses, ans heater hoses that are leaking. If you are loosing antifreeze ,and you are sure the coolant is going somewhere, you may sill have a head,or head gasket, that are bad.If it has not been long before the head change, then the antifreeze may be still present in the exhaust,or on the engine,so you may have to wait a little longer for smell to disapate.Cleaning the engine can help.
