Replaced thermostat, it sometimes after pegging temp gauge pulls anifreeze from resevoir
It's easy to flush your heater core. I use a garden hose. My same truck as yours, lost heat in the cab. I used the garden hose trick, and flushed the problem away. It's as easy as removing both heater hoses from the heater core, and using an old garden hose that I cut the end off. Luckily, it slipped right onto the heater core inlet. Hooked the garden hose to the water spigot and turned it on. Let it run for a couple minutes. The plug should wash away.

Sounds like there may be an air pocket in the system.
Try 'burping' the system. If this still doesn't fix the problem, check the temperature of the heater core hoses (in and out) The inlet should be fairly cool, the other should be piping hot. If they're both cold; the heater core has an internal blockage.
Next, replace the thermostat with a winter (180-195 F) derivative.
Bleed the system accordingly, and keep me posted!
