The engine and transfer case are to totally different monsters your transfer case controls the four wheel drive if your engine was leaking oil and they replaced some seals most likely they seen grease and oil on the transfer case and assumed it was leaking from the leaking engine that is directly above it even if you dont use the four wheel drive I would still sugest getting that fixed because the axles still turn inside there and you dont want those bearings drying up and going bad

Unless I make a visual and mechnical inspection of your transaxel, the cause of the problem could be several things (i.e., differential splines or bearing damaged during removal & reinstallation of drive axel, physical damage to oil seal (both times), physical damage to output shaft where the oil seal mates/seals with the shaft, cracked differential case, combination of all these, etc.

Same propblem. My dealer repaired twice, cost lots of dollars cause they say they have to remove the case. After the second repair and still leaks, they say the manufacture says to replace the transfer case??? $3400 for the job. Tomcal, if you are still checking, did you get it fixed and did you do it yourself? Good luck to anyone else with this problem. I love the car, a 2001 with less than 100K.

You need to look it over and find the source of the leak.
Coolant loss will cause an overheat and every time that happens you risk an expensive job including total engine loss. Obvilousy no one here can see your engine and tell you where the leak is. If you don't do your own work, have the shop that did the work check it over. Normally shops give at least a 90 day guarantee on their work and therefore if the pump is faulty or there was a problem with the install, they should correct it.
