The engine and transfer case are to totally different monsters your transfer case controls the four wheel drive if your engine was leaking oil and they replaced some seals most likely they seen grease and oil on the transfer case and assumed it was leaking from the leaking engine that is directly above it even if you dont use the four wheel drive I would still sugest getting that fixed because the axles still turn inside there and you dont want those bearings drying up and going bad

SOURCE: 2003 Hyundai Tiburon Leaking Transmission Seal

Unless I make a visual and mechnical inspection of your transaxel, the cause of the problem could be several things (i.e., differential splines or bearing damaged during removal & reinstallation of drive axel, physical damage to oil seal (both times), physical damage to output shaft where the oil seal mates/seals with the shaft, cracked differential case, combination of all these, etc.

SOURCE: Oil leak where half shaft enters transfer case on passenger side.

Same propblem. My dealer repaired twice, cost lots of dollars cause they say they have to remove the case. After the second repair and still leaks, they say the manufacture says to replace the transfer case??? $3400 for the job. Tomcal, if you are still checking, did you get it fixed and did you do it yourself? Good luck to anyone else with this problem. I love the car, a 2001 with less than 100K.

SOURCE: a repair shop said it was the waterpump and

You need to look it over and find the source of the leak.
Coolant loss will cause an overheat and every time that happens you risk an expensive job including total engine loss. Obvilousy no one here can see your engine and tell you where the leak is. If you don't do your own work, have the shop that did the work check it over. Normally shops give at least a 90 day guarantee on their work and therefore if the pump is faulty or there was a problem with the install, they should correct it.

Bellhousing leak

did you just have the fluid replaced in the transfer case?? if the answer is no, the you may have a leak from the series of seals that are internal. you will have to have the transfer case removed and have the CVT seal replaced and other seals inside of the transfer case. lengthy repair and costly also. the transfer case has to be removed to replace the CVT side seal and while you are in there replace seals inside of the transfer case also. that what its sounds like to me. transfer case seal leak or the inside CVT seal leak. however if its leaking right from the bellhousing, it also could be the torque converter seal. this is when proper diagnosis comes to play. if its d converter seal, than the trans has to come out. have this one checked by someone that knows what they are doing. could be transfer case seal leak and it could be converter leak.

Leaking Transfer Case

most Gear boxes with transfer cases have an oil seal between the main gear box and the transfer case so that the oil from the box is not passed through to the transfer case causing it to over fill. If there only a few spots under the car you have time to find exactly where the leak is. May be only an output shaft seal. Check the level of the gear box and transfer case your self It will be level with the filler plug. The oil used is either sae80-90 or oep 80-90. Check manufactures specs on this. If it turns out to be the seal between the two boxes then it will require the unit removal for seal replacement.

My transfer case is leaking and I'm not sure why.

Sounds like a bad seal to me. That is the most likely problem. If you replace the seals you should replace all seals and gaskets at the same time since you have already gotten in apart and this will keep you from having to turn right around and disassemble again when there is another issue later. Best to do it while it's already apart since it will save time and trouble in the future. If this does not help you I apologize.

Ferrari 360spider roof leaks when it rains at the corners of the front windows has anyone got a solution? Nigel

If you have a leak and want to seal it, try some clear silicone, It shouldn't take away from the looks, and it should seal the leak. A bead of it can be used to fix roofing problems as well on a house. When skillfully applied, it shouldn't look bad at all.

Transmission fluid going into transfer case

the seal blew out, separate the 2 and you'll see the leak, gets worse under pressure, check with tranny shops,, sometimes its worth having it done since they have a lift and the tool that can just snatch the seal out and replace without taking everything apart

Automatic transmission leaks on my 2000 Rodeo 4wheel drive Any help? Please

If you have never serviced the transmission, it just may be time to have the transmission fluid and filter to be replaced if the transmission fluid is leaking from the transmission pan. If it's leaking from the rear of the transmission where the drive shaft goes in to, then it's the rear seal from the transfer case and the seal needs to be replaced and the transfer case topped off with fluid. If the fluid is leaking from the front of the transmission where the engine connects to the transmission than it's a good chance that it's the torque converter or front pump main seal. The other place that it could be leaking from is the transmission oil lines from the transmission to the cool at the radiator. Please let me know if it's leaks worst when the engine is running or only when your parked for a few hours. Keep me posted, be glad to help.

Leak in transfer case Transfer case leaking on Dodge Durango

Check to see if
(1) Transfer case is overfilled. If so drain to proper level.
(2) Vent is clogged or jammed closed. Clean or replace vent.
(3) Output shaft seal incorrectly installed or damaged. Replace the seal and check contact surface for nicks and scoring.

Hope this helps you.
