Your description of the problem is not very clear. It seems as if your temp gauge does not work, or does not indicate the correct temperature.
If you disconnect the wire from the sensor unit and put it to battery negative (ground), the gauge should move to the full hot position. If this does not happen the best chance is that the gauge does not work. If it does work, the sensor is faulty. In a very unlikely situation, the wire could be faulty..

Whilst driving my e46, M43 engine, 318i, 2001 year model, my car picked up a miss and it stopped idling. It also had no power as the engine sounded roudy when i reved the engine. What happened?

Did you replace the spark plugs with the same brand recommended by ? Might also what to go over all the wiring harnesses, you disconnected when replacing the exhaust. Might of pinched a wire.

On a cold start, the engine struggles

probably a bad air/flow sensor, try to clean it with sensor cleaner, its by the air intake filter box. if not clean the throttle body really good.

pls vote.

Radiator fan running from enging start to stop.

Either the fan switch on the engine or the fan relay is at fault. Replace both for they are inexpensive to replace

Heating problem, temperature gauge

there should be a dial to control the center vents. i believe its in between the vents or just below it. it should have blue and red marks on it. move the dial towards the blue indicator and the air should now be cool. in cold weather, move this dial towards the red indicators for warm air. you can adjust temp at these vents by moving the dial between red & blue.

Engine tempature probe on block is bad and grounded inside, or the wire leading to the engine block heat sensor is shorted to ground.
