We had the clutch, and the whole axel replaced in our 96 impreza, but now i am hearing a clicking coming from the front drivers side when i go forward in first gear. it sounds like a blown cv boot, but these were both just changed two weeks ago. the axels appear ok, but there is definatly a noise. it seems to only happen in first, and only when i go straight forward. i'm thinking it is a bad axel from the manufacturer. not sure. HELP
Check the brand of axles. many aftermarket ones are not the same quality as oem. I found that dorman makes a good replacement axle with an excellent warranty
Jack the wheel up and and sharp spin left and right should help you locate the problem. did you change both sets of the universal joints, if so did you really pack them well with the grease as sometimes if the grease is not well packed you can get a dry spot and this will heat up and become damaged.

Sounds like warped fly wheel.

Just a possible check is first check your power steering fluid. When it runs low it can make the front end do many weird things. Also check if the front rotors are very warm. If I am correct to understand you have a 96 not a 2002. If so, they have dual piston calipers, which sometimes will hang one piston and apply the brake pad at an angle which will make them drag and wobble the calipers and rotors and give you a rough feel through the wheel. Hope this helps.

If there is one - In trunk - directly behind the gas filler door - behind trunkliner (carpet)
The cable should not have any problems... use a partner to hold the door release and try and pry it open with your fingers.
The spring popper may be bad.
Try this if you dont have an assistant :D
I had this problem with my STI -- easy to fix by bending the little metal on the inside of the fuel door that provides the spring action to open the door. 5 second fix
