The headlights and interior lights still come on. When I turn the key, all I hear is clicking and all the dash lights go crazy flashing on and off. Also the cd player and radio come on and off.
Have you had the battery tested ?
Could be a dead cell in the battery or a dirty connection with one of the main battery cables.

Hi, i know that the link is about a different car type then yours, but the principles are the same.
Remove battery
Then place your new battery, connect it & test that it's working.
If your radio is working, write down it's security code.
Hope this helps you,
Eitan.

The multi-function (aka combination) switch probably has contaminated grease in the switch contacts from wear.
See:
http://www.wikihow.com/Fix-Grand-Am-Turn-Signals
for do-it-yourself repair instructions. You can also buy a new
aftermarket switch, if you don't want to take apart the existing one
and clean up the electrical contacts.
For example, see:
http://www.autozone.com/Ntt,SW1414/shopping/allResults.htm
(or just go to http://www.autozone.com/ and search for part #SW1414)
For 2003 Grand Am, it was listed as "Duralast / dimmer switch", but other makes & models may go by another name.

I have had the exact same problem. There is an ignition lock that probably went off. There is a fuse box under the hood. The fuse that says ignition on it pull it out and put it back in. This should reset the ignition lock. Its a safety feature because the car thinks that someone was trying to tamper with it.

I agree with the above solution, and it is definitely the most likely one by far. I have a set of personal experiences with a similar issue on my Grand Prix, although you didn't say if your lights ever came back on (which could slightly change the situation).
I had the same problem after replacing the alternator on my 2002 Grand Prix SE, but my lights would permanently go off (or at least do so for a few hours).
Knowing that my alternator had gone bad, my first instinct was that it took my battery with it. The first time I took the battery in, it read fine. When I took it in a second time, it had a couple very slightly (almost not noticeable) voltage aberrations. One new battery, the car runs perfectly!
Other than battery, the starter solenoid is a likely candidate. It would also be worthwhile to check all of your fuses.
Also double check your groundwire coming off of the battery. Make sure it is firmly attached to the frame and that this area hasn't become corroded. If so, clean it with some baking soda and re-attach. It would also be worthwhile to check the terminals on the battery itself.
The only thing I can think of other than a ground issue, the starter, or the battery being bad, is an issue around one of your fuses, or a fusible link being blown. A fusible link is a wire that litterally contains a fuse within it, and these can be a real nightmare to track down on that car.

Connections were all solid. Pulled the battery and had it checked. It was dead. Replaced with a new AC Delco.
Did that fix the problem..I'm having the same issue
My lights and everything still comes om
