The dealer installed an Auto-Mate AM6.2 remote start system in my 2012 CX-9. When you utilize the remote start, the red KEY light comes on and stays on. The dealer is trying to tell me it is operating normally, but the manual says not to drive the car with that light on. It does not come on when starting the car normally (not using the remote start).
Remote start is by bypassing the regular start system of car. The car is not reading the value for the transponder key and thinks the system has malfunctioned. (thus the red key light). He wired the remote start to by pass the cars theft system and start the car with the remotes brain and transponder value. At this point it get complicated as the cars computer was programed for a car without remote start when it was made. It won't hurt the car but some remote starts may need and additional module to trick the computer into thinking there is a key there when remote start is engaged so the red key light won't come on.
Hi, The dealer has failed to test the setup when he fitted Auto Mate system in your vehicle. Take it back & tell him it worked before & he forgot to test with Auto Start they simply forgot it had auto start fault is theirs. Please give feedback Malcolm Campbell. [email protected] Thanks.

sounds like you have a blown head gasket this would explain loss of coolant and running poorly excessive smoke.

They are right at the GM dealer, u need a new module, have seen and fixed this very issue, have the dealer do a national inventory search both in Canada and the USA, if the dealer won't, call a US dealer and ask them to try and get the part for U, have done this more than once for out of production parts, always got the part from somewhere.

Yes the key needs to be reprogramed to the car. Unfortunately that will have to be done by the dealer. Make sure that you have plenty of proof that you are the owner. They will reprogram it but you will not take posession of the car until you prove it is yours.

Like a lot of SAAB components, the manufacturer has tried to make them as least attractive and susceptible to theft as possible - try fitting a stereo from one SAAB to an identical model - it won't work. It is a question of divorce and marriage.
The components (electronic ones) are married to the individual car. Your remote from another car would need to be de-prgrammed by a dealer with full SAAB diagnostic equipment (if it is possible to de-program the remote), before being married to your car. A 9-3 can have up to 3 or 4 keys (mine has two - there were three but it's a long story!) with different levels of access for the car. Without the donor car available to electronically divorce the donated remote I am not sure that they will work.
Also bear in mind that different overseas markets use different UHF frequencies for remotes for car locking systems and unless the remotes are a perfect match for your car they may never work.
Slide out the metal key insert from the remote and check the engraved code on the inside curve of your remote to see if the part number matches or comes close to the one from your original key.
