TOOLS FOR THE JOB:
jack
jack stands
sockets and socket wrench
safety glasses

PROCEDURE:
1. raise your car at all four points, with jack stands
2. drain your oil
3. there will be multiple bolts surrounding your oil pan (about 10 give or take) make sure you are wearing safety glasses, remove these bolts
4. your oil pan should drop, if not provide a little bit of force
5. take your oil pan and remove old gasket
6. clean off area where gasket was removed
7. then do steps 1-3 in reverse

If you want to repair the oil pan I would also check lower engine mount for leaking oil and cracks in anti sway bar near fitting's. This due to engine mount is oil filled. OEM sway bar is made of tubular steel and they crack easy. Replacement sway bar is solid steel. Here's the kicker. When they pull the lower frame to service oil pan. The engine mount and sway bar are attached to that frame. A honest mechanic should only charge for parts ($35 for mount and $100 for sway bar) and maybe a extra hour. My mechanic did all in 5 hours. FYI gasket is only $35 bucks. Good luck

Changing a oil pan for a 95 grand marquis

Just loosen oil plug and drain...take out pan bolts... drop down...make sure alt gasket material is off of both pan and bottom of motor. Lay new gasket on oil pan...possibly use gasket sealer to keep gasket in place...a very thin layer on oil pan then put gasket on. Let dry for a bit then bolt back up...make sure oil plug is back in then refill....cheers!

I have a 1993 Toyota Paseo, which I have been told is almost mechanically identical to the 1993 Tercel. I think I there is a leak in the seal of the oil pan. Please give me instructions for replacing the...

Are you sure have a leak,? you saw it? they usually don't leak only from the valve cover gasket.
If you see oil drip by the passenger side of the oil pan the leak could be the crankshaft seal.
if the oil is in the center of the engine rear main seal is the problem.
If al around the oil pan is wet with oil but the oil do not make it to the floor, then the person who is doing the oil changes is not cleaning properly.

I have a 1993 mercedes 190e 2.6 and after getting my oil changed the small leak I had is now draining my engine. I have lost 1.5 quarts of oil in 6 weeks. What do I do now. I was told to get a new oil pan...

Unless the oil pan is badly damaged then I would not replace it. Tell your technician that you would like the gasket replaced and a new oil plug installed. See if this doesn't change the price to something a bit more reasonable. Hope this helps. Good luck.
