SOURCE: fuel pressure regulator

How do you know that it is the regulator?
these 4.3 motors had a lot of trouble from 93 to 98, I know I had 2 of them.
What happened to mine was that the intake kept getting very carboned up. After I would clean it, the truck would run fine for about 5 or 6 months, then same thing.
Theres actually a class action lawsuit about this that I believe has been settled, you may have recourse if you bought it through a dealer. Good luck. You'll need it.

SOURCE: 1996 GMC JIMMY won't start

I think 54 p.s.i. on fuel pressure is close to border line, Are the injectors pulsating, You can have fire at the plugs but if injectors are not pulsating it will not run. I know there were problems with the injections systems on blazers and jimmys around that year, i would look closer to the injection system.

SOURCE: my son's gmc 4.3l hesitates upon acceleration. I

do you have any check engine lights on? If you do, that is the first thing I would have checked. It does sound like plugged EGR, vacuum leak, or bad TPS

I have a 1994 GMC 1500 5.7 I like to know where the fuel pump regulator is located also symptoms of it going bad.

If that has throttle body fuel injectopion than the fuel pressure regulator is part of the throttle body,

some symptoms would be running rich and extended crank after a hot soak.

It's been about 15 years since I replaced one. It from what I remember it was not that hard to do.

Do my 1996 gmc box van engine fuel injection or carburetor

Look.
If you see a fuel rail or a short-throat throttle body, it is fuel injected.
If you see a carburetor... well, I think you get the point :)
From the year (unless it is a non-U.S. model), it is most likely FUEL INJECTED.

Dumping too much fuel while running

Clearly some fancy diagnosis and testing is needed and checking the fuel pressure will be part of those checks as would testing the injector spray patterns.
If the injectors are producing droplets that are large or are dribbling or leaking the oxygen sensor will see the result as a lean mixture and increase the injector duty cycle making the situation intolerable at idle when the intake air speed is too low to break up large fuel droplets.

Just an idea...

88 gmc s15 wont stay running after it is warm

Did you check the fuel pressure before you replaced the pump ?
Can you spray carb cleaner or starting fluid into the throttle body and make the engine want to start ?
If it is throttle body injected, can you see the fuel spray when you crank it hot ?

In need to change the fuel pressure regulator but I need to know where a 4.3l engine

The fuel pressure regulator is mounted inside the intake plenum. You'll have to take the top half of the intake plenum off and replace the fuel injection spider.

My van will not run i have change fuel pump, filter

Try to see if you have a fuel pump relay and a fuel pump cutoff switch( fuel pump shutoff is for if you roll the vehicle or have an accident). Also, you may have a bad fuel pressure regulator. I don't know what type of fuel injection you have but the regulator is on the fuel rail for multiport injection and on the TBI for throttle body injection..the best way to check for proper fuel pressure is to get a fuel pressure tester and connect it to the fuel rail( the connector looks like that of a valve stem)...on the multi port the pressure should be around 40-60psi and on the TBI it should be around 15-25psi. If all else, then check to see that the injectors are ok
