The truck run fine drove it earlier in the day parked it. went back out a couple of hours later to go some where put key in and nothing, like the batteries where dead.. so i hook up jumper cables jumped it off it started after a few minutes of charging from cables.. well i un hooked the cables after starting. let it run as to charge the battiers and it ran for a couple minutes and then the dash lights headlights and all went out. battery light came on and then truck cut off.. tried to turn it over and nothing...well repeated this prsses a couple time and same thing..thought maybe altinator.. put new one on then.. same senerio. same thing.. well then thought maybe battries so i put two brand new battries.. well truck cranked on its on then thought okay got it... well not i get up next morning and nothing same deal as night before. put battery tester on it and batteries didnt even register.. jumped it off and it showed not charging.. but has new altinator and battries.. even had old altinator tested and it showed good. took new battery and put in another truck after charging it up and it works fine and test good.
Sounds like a bad cable and or a bad alternator
I just went thru same thing with my 2003 f-350 diesel. I hooked up my horse Trailor and drove to Von's parked went in came back out and truck was dead. I tried to jump it didn't work. Then over next two hours two tow truck Drivers hooked up to both batteries full power charge direct to my truck and would not start.
End story required two new batteries alternator and cilanoid discussed above. In other post. Also contributing to the cause was really badly coroded cables they looked good at the connection point but wher discovered to be coroded inside the tubing just above the end connections so bow it has all been replaced and I have had no trouble since. You should check your battery cables with an ohmmeter and see if they have any resistance,they should be at 0 ohms or just alittle over,but could possibly be the starter solenoid also.I had this same problem with my Toyota last year,hard starting sometimes needed a jump and then the alt went bad,turned out to be the solenoid was shorting intermittantly.Hope this helps.

before u decide the battery has an outside draw on it have the battery load tested, Kragen, Autozone and many other parts stores do this for free, when a battery is run dead like this it can develop a shorted out cell and this causes an internal draw, after u have verified the battery is good the next thing to do is go out at night and look for any lights that may be on in the interior, if u have lighted visor vanity mirrors make sure those are not on as well, also check consoles and glove box lights and cargo light for the bed.

There is a strong possibility that you may have what is called a parasitic drain on your battery. Which simply means that there is something running in the background that is pulling a load on your battery. These kinds of drains can extremely hard to find. To help you determine of you have a parasitic drain you will need a multimeter. If you do not have one I would recommend taking your vehicle to a trusted automotive service center. Call then first to determine what they charge per hour for diagnostics. usually will be about 1 to 2 hours diagnostics time.
