I have a 2004 chev 2500 HD 6Lt gas Lbox auto . 4x4. The battery goes dead if it sits for a few days. What I have seen is that after I use it, and it sits for an hour or 2 the digital odometer lights all come on. Then if I open the door they go out like they are reset, but after another hour or two they come back on again. It is the whole digital display square that lights up not idividual nummbers. Thanks for any help you can give me

The digital dash needs taken out and rebuilt or replaced. Ask your dealer about having it repaired or check out ebay. I had one fixed by a guy for my brother inlaw and it worked perfectly.

Probably the battery, If you don't start it any time within the week and a half. Computers in the truck stay on all the time. A new battery will drain in about 30 days. because of the computers. A shorted dome light will kill a old battery in about 2 days. Starters and alternators will kill them over night. Start it every 2 or 3 days for 5 minutes, you shouldn't have a problem.
Start with the simple things first. Check connections at starter and battery, check connection of main ground cable. Operate your test again at outside at night (in the dark) and have person watch the engine compartment for sparks which are easy to see at night. Always diagnose problem from the source, and check to make sure solenoid on starter is good, also that clearances are correct and starter is not binding when it tries to rotate.
Its likely just a poor connection; see if the dash lights go out when you go to start it this means a poor electrical connection. Take the battery terminals and clamps off and sand them down to shiny and tighten them up and maybe give them a shot of WD40 for good measure(it is supposed to absorb moisture). Your welcome, Alex
try disconnecting the battery cable and wait 10 min.then reconnect, may reset the light, allso check the fuel lines metal and rubber lines, you may have a bad connection somewhere.allso gas cap may need to be replaced, that worked on my truck, try the simple thing first to save money on something you don"t need,
