Aveo won't run in cold temps

Car runs great with no problems to temps of 25 degrees farenheit. anything less begins to stall and rpms eratic. Let sit for five minutes and usually starts and will run. Or if real cold will drive for 3 to 4 miles and just stall. Won't start. Has done this from the time I bought car new in 2007.

SOURCE: 1988 chev celebrity stalls when comming to a stop sign.

no timing belt on the particular vehicle. but yes probably something minor, check fuel pressure, fuel pressure regulator, MAF sensor and IAC motor. all these can cause intermitent stalls. The MAF is located somewhere between the air filter and the throttle body. it is a sensor that sometimes gets dirty with air particles and will affect fuel managment. the IAC motor is on the throttle body and if gets stuck with carbon will not be able to control idle. the fuel pressure regulator is on the fuel rail and if the vacuum line is filled with gas then the diaphram is bad. and the fuel pressure should be 35 to 50 PSI running.

SOURCE: engine temp gage spikes to 260 degree when

are you sure the cooling fans are working?
Is the coolant temp gauge telling the truth?
have you lifted the hood and heard the coolant bubbling into the overflow?
Or heard the tinging sound of a red hot engine?
If he did a liquid test with the dye,and it changed colors it should have changed very fast,
Another thing to think about if he was to take the fan belt off,and pull the thermostat housing off,and removed the thermostat,Now pour coolant into the thermostat hole to almost the top,Now start the car and see which side the bubbles come from, left or right, that will be the gasket that is leaking not both.

Chevy Malibu Cold Idle Problem

Check the water coolant thermostat. If it is stuck in the "open" position you are heating up all the water in the coolant system and this will take time. The thermostat keeps the water in the engine until warmed up to almost normal running temperature, only then does it allow the coolant to enter the radiator.

1993 S-10 Blazer runs great then dies at temp

If you have Code 15, you need a volt meter or you will run into a wall. You measure the coolant resistor ohms when its cold then measure it when the engine is warm. You also have to measure one side for a 5 volt reference.Or better yet when the vehicle reaches operating temperature and begins to stall take the leads of the coolant temperature and jump it together. This tell the ECM your temperature is 266F. If its stays running and doest stall replace temp sensor

2001 Saturn L200 Sedan, 186,000+ miles. When first try to start it cold, engine stumbles and sometimes won't run--like its short of fuel or lacking spark. Try again and she starts fine and runs great...

You can read what the ECTS is telling your computer with a scanner. (It will read in degrees) If this is bad, sometimes it will read -40 degrees and cause the system to add more fuel, which may be you issue. Also, you can ohm out your spark plug wires to verify if they are all equal.

I have a 1994 Dodge Dakota, no power at low rpms

yes it does if it is reading lets say lower than normal that would explain easy start up and stalling later.the coolant temp sensor has two wires .so if your car warms up and your coolant is about 200 degrees your coolant sensor might say 80 degrees .access to a scanner to check temp would be great.
