My air bag lights are turned on. air bags have never been deployed. air bag light does not flash it just stays on while driving. anyone can help? is there anything i can do rather than taking my car to the shop????? will the light eventually turn off after a few miles driven?????
When the light is on all the time there is a problem in the air bag system. This is something you will want to take to a service center soon, as long as the light is on the air bags will not deploy in an accident.

Hey Earl, what's going on ? The air bag module is usually under the passenger seat or the center console ! The only way to turn off the light is with a up grade scan tool , not code reader. An the light is on for a reason , problem with the system ! If you don't know about this don't mess with it , you could deploy an air bag !
The AIR BAG indicator, located on the instrument panel cluster (IPC) is used to notify the driver of SIR system malfunctions and to verify that the SDM is communicating with the IPC. When the ignition is turned ON, the SDM is supplied with ignition 1 voltage and requests the IPC to flash the AIR BAG indicator 7 times. While flashing the indicator, the SDM conducts test on all SIR system components and circuits. If no malfunctions are detected the SDM will communicate with the IPC through the class 2 serial data circuit and request the IPC to turn the AIR BAG indicator OFF. The SDM provides continuous monitoring of the air bag circuits by conducting a sequence of checks. If a malfunction is detected the SDM will store a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) and request the IPC to turn the AIR BAG indicator ON. The presence of a SIR system malfunction could result in non-deployment of the air bags. The AIR BAG indicator will remain ON until the malfunction has been repaired.
Most likely you replaced the clock spring and air bag module right? Well when the srs deploys you also have seatbelt pre-tensioners that are part of the whole retractor assembly and cannot be repaired. Ie either side retractors are not working right , then you need to replace according to chrysler corp.
Did your air bag deploy? If the air bag is missing the light will never go away. You MIGTH be able to find somone with a tuner tool to tell the computer to turn off the light.
there is a fault in the air bag system on that model the clock spring is broken it is attatched to turn signal switch but if you dont know how to work on air bags dont they can be dangerous very dangerous let me know if this helped you the air bag wont deploy with this problem okay to drive car remember the airbag s will not deploy in an accident
To manually check air bag codes, turn the key On and push the driver's door switch (at the bottom of the B-pillar) 5 times or more within 7 seconds of turning the key ON. Then watch the air bag light flashing codes. The air bag light will come ON for 3 seconds and then give fast flashes if there is a code. Count the fast flashes as the code. So the air bag light on for 3 seconds and then 8 flashes is a code 8 for the passenger air bag circuit. after counting code
clear codes and see if they come back
Would seem strange that there would be no codes present if the light is constantly on. While the light is the air bags are disabled, so they will not deploy in an accident. I recommend taking it to a Dodge dealer for diagnosis and repair. If cost is an issue, tell them you just want a code test and advise on possible causes. They may have seen the problem before, and will usually be the quickest at diagnosis and repair.
