2006 jeep liberty putting out 13 amps. Should it be more?

Depends on the battery. What is the battery voltage when the engine is off? If it is below 12v, replace or recharge it.

Make sure that the gauge is accurate and the battery connections good and clean.

High Output Alternator (240amp) with idle voltage at 13.7. How do I get past the PCM and bring voltage up to at least 14.4? 2013 Camry SE 4Cyl

David,

The high output alternator you have puts out higher amps - not volts. 13.5 volts out is more than enough to keep your car battery charged. Excessive voltage will damage a battery.

If your car requires more amps than the original alternator was able to provide to (1) run the car and (2) all the electric accessories; then a higher output alternator is needed (the battery is only needed to start the engine, that's it - they are designed to provide a large amount of current (amps) for a short period of time as when starting). Otherwise, the battery would have to make up the difference between the what the alternator can provide and the actual amount of amps needed / used. Used this way, the battery lights would dim, engine slows and everything would just stop and go dark.

If you're running a powerful audio amplifier, the current it might need may be so much current that it may be too much for the alternator alone to provide - hence the high output style was installed. You can use one or more large value capacitors - or additional batteries to "fill" in whenever the amplifier briefly needs more current than the alternator can provide - without drawing on the main car battery.

Your alternator is probably just fine.

Toyota amp seina

Charging current usually lies between 8 amps to 25 amps depending on the load which is being put on the battery. Immediately after cranking the engine the battery is charged at high rate even up to 25 - 30 amps, which comes down to almost 7 - 15 amps after the engine is run for few minutes. More the load on battery higher the current and lesser the load lower will be the charging current to charge the battery.

My alternater and battery test good on my 01 kia spectra. But, After putting the fully charged battery in my car, it slowlky died in on ly a few blocks drive?

Connect an ammeter in series with the battery positive terminal and battery positive lead. With ALL systems off, including alarm, door lights etc and with doors closed you should have a reading of only 0.03 amps.I'm guessing that yours is higher as it sounds like you have a parasitic voltage drain. If indeed it is higher, then disconnect any alarm system first and check your amps again. Every time you disconnect something, go back and check your amps.Once you get your amp drain back to normal, then you have managed to disconnect the system responsible for the high current drain.
The most likely candidates are always the alarm system, then stereo, then GPS tracker. After that you will have to start pulling more fuses, one by one and letting the vehicle rest for a few minutes after each thing is disconnected before taking a reading.
BTW, if it is the alarm which is drawing a high amp drain, then it is more often than not the alarm siren back up battery which has failed.
Good luck.

What are the specifications for the 1989 Acura Legend 4 dr Sedan Battery. I just tried to buy a replacement at Costco which they said would work but it doesn't.

the battery you bought should be top post which means the terminals slide onto the posts on top. Make sure you are hooking up red(positive) to the + on the battery and black(neg) to the - on the battery. You need 640 cold cranking amps or higher. Spec should be around 9inch high,9 inch long and 7 inch wide. Can be a little bigger, as long it fits in the tray

How much cold start amp should a 95 buick park aveune have?

650 at the least but 800 or more is better putting the least is not always the best, when getting higher amp, there is a lot more reserve in the battery cause you will not use a lot of the amps upon start situations.

I have a 1998 chevy blazer (s-10) 4.3L 4x4 it keeps blowing the #15 (10amp) 4wd fuse, if you put a 10 amp fuse in it will blow the minute you turn it on ,then we put a 15 amp in it seems to do it when you...

check transfer case electrical switch, sometime if it bad it will also blow the fuse. don't recommend you put any higher fuse than recommend, If the fuse blow there is a short some where and by putting higher amp fuse you might short or burn something else beside the fuse. if that check out than check your transfer case motor, might lock up and not allowing the motor to turn instead it short the fuse. don't drive the car, just leave it in park, put correct fuse amp back in and unplug transfer case electric switch and turn the key on (dont start the car) and see if the fuse blow; if not plug it back in and see if it blow the fuse. if that is not the case, unplug transfer case wire, and do the same and see if it blow the fuse.
