hi from uk to renew front disc(rotors) and brake pads on the accent are not beyond the mech minded diy er and can easilly be done if you follow instructions on the haynes manual etc and would save$$$$s in dealer charges ? if you diy as for the rear brakes they are drum brakes with shoes that are auto adjust but again can be done by diy with help of manual ? as for cost of parts ? you can obtain/price of all parts from good auto shop/superstore also a manual ? then by all means obtain a quote ? for local garage to do the brakes with cost of labour and parts ? then consider option of diy? i am sure you will be tempted/inspired if you browse the work involved hope this helps? contact again if you feel lucky? will be glad to assist if you get stuck? or req info ? merry xmas from uk

when off at battery should be at least 12.6 or better. less than 12 volts battery is bad. when running at battery should be at least 14.1 to 14.7. all assesories should be off for test.

It really sounds like maybe that alternator is bad. You can get it checked at a local parts house like an AutoZone, Advance or Pepboys. They can check the voltage at the battery with the car running, it should be above or around 14 volts, if it is lower then the alternator is not working properly. You should call and check to see if there is a warranty on this alternator if it went bad so quickly, but every shop and parts manufacturer has different warranties.
I can't say that that brake light is directly related to this but you should definitely check and make sure that the fluid level in the reservoir is at the proper level. The brake fluid reservoir is under the hood on the drivers side of the car right up by the firewall (the wall that separates you from the engine bay). It is usually a cylindrical container. You should see Max and Min fluid level marks. Make sure the fluid is in that range. If it is not you make need some brakes replaced. If the fluid level is fine it may be related to the fact that the battery is running low voltage, car computers get wacky when they do not get the proper voltage to them.

There is possibly a problem with your wheel speed sensors; You will need to scan your computer system and watch the wheel speed sensor data to find out which one is malfunctioning.

2002 Hyundai Accent Problem: intermittent

What your car is shouting at you is that there is a low power problem. This may be simply a battery cable or a corroded connection but the systems are not able to get the power they need. I would take the vehicle to a AutoZone (or competitor) as they have free diagnostics for the battery, alternator and etc. They can also read the codes in the OBC module.

I hav a 2002 hyndai accent replaced battery and aternator worked fine for 1 day same problem all over is it another bad alternator nw battery also

What exactly is the problem? Is it not charging? Does the battery/alternator light stay on when engine is running? Poor connections can cause no charging, so check all battery, alternator, and starter connections. Make sure all are clean and tight. If still no help, have the alternator tested while on the car and running.

My 2001 Hyundai Accent has 106,438 miles. Last night the check brake and check battery lights both came on. My battery is less then nine months old, but the car still has the original alternator.

the light that comes on just say "BRAKE", correct?

If this is the case first check the fluid level in the master cylinder. If it is low it will turn the light on. Top off with DOT3 or DOT4 brake fluid only. Continue to monitor the level. if it goes down again within 10k miles than there is likely a leak somewhere.

The other thing that will case the BRAKE light to illuminate is if the E-BRAKE lever is not in its full retracted position.

If there was a problem with the charging system a light would come on that looks like a "battery". You should be able to see this light for a couple of seconds every time you turn the key on.

None of the brake lights on my daughters 2010 Hyundai Accent, come on when she steps on the brake pedal. why?

You listed this vehicle as a 2006 Accent, yet you write it's a 2010.

If 2006, it's probably the brake lamp switch. However, I've seen all three brake light bulbs burn out within days of each other.

If 2010, it's still under warranty.

Hi. I have an '02 Hyundai Accent. It has shut off 3 times while I'm driving, with no electrical response. I wait it out and it eventually starts up. For the past few months the instrument panel lights go...

Different areas worth checking in order of seriousness are:

  • loose battery cables/terminals - if they are loose, a bump could temporarily disrupt your connection
  • loose battery - the battery itself may be moving around in it's compartment when you hit a bump or jump on the brakes
  • defective alternator - the alternator gives off several symptoms when it's on it's way out. interference when the radio is on, very slow windshield wipers, dim headlights.
Bring the car to any of the bigger chain autoparts stores that feature a free electrical test. They could rule out a bad alternator or possibly narrow down what you should do next.

Battery light comes on after starting but goes out when rpm is increased. I plan on replacing battery tomorrow but would like to know if I should change alternator too.

After you change the battery, check if you have approx 14v when the vehicle is running. You should have around 13.5 min. Turn on your a/c, lights, wipers and check again. If the voltage is slowly dropping below this rate, your alternator is on the way out.
