it would make sense because in a lot of cars, the screen for the backup camera is integrated into the infotainment system (which includes the radio).
I'm surprised the dealer didn't' just recommend an infotainment system to replace your radio with. You might call another Hyundai dealer and ask them to recommend an infotainment system which includes a backup camera integration. They should be able to handle the full installation.
Since both the GPS and camera are involved, there is probably a problem with a video processor internal to the radio unit. If this is the case, you are probably looking at replacing the unit. However, you should look for a set DTC code using a code reader before going down that road. Resetting any DTCs may correct the problem.
had the same problem. no radio, navigation interior lights etc. replaced 20 amp fuse labeled "back up" in the engine compartment fuse box and all checks good.
The Navigation system DVD has failed. You can order the load/play mechanism for it from China. (http://alibaba.com) This is where I found the replacement for my system.This is not a hard repair to make. Cost is between $60 and &120 for the part. Alpine and the dealer will want your first born to replace it.
