Whirring noise from engine area - increases with acceleration

2006 GMC Envoy, approx 60,000 km. I have a whirring noise that increases with acceleration. Makes it sound like an electric vehicle. Noise is present even when parked and idling. Performance still seems fine. Anyone have an idea?

Mine doing this now... It's the pulley under the alternator. I don't know if it's the water pump or not.
I removed the belt to find out. I'm certain of where it's coming from. It's a common problen I've heard on many Envoys and Trailblazers. Still researching now...

Constant high pitch noise coming from pulley after changing serpentine belt 2006 gmc envoy

The belt tensioner on right side of engine, if you are facing vehicle, just below the altenator, is probably the problem. Mine made the noise all the time, bought part at Autozone, 18.99, its fixed, no noise.

My 2006 envoy denali recently started making a fluttering noise upon acceleration ? one guy told me it was a rod ? could this be? I have always changed the oil on time and with synthetic oil...last...

A rod problem is a steady knock which increases with rpm. More likely you have a plugged air filter , a plugged fuel filter or a vacuum leak, ( vote fuel filter , people never change those often enough)

Whining engine noise

If the noise increases when idling and reving up the engine then you must check on the engine pulley, the belt idler pulley, the water pump , alternator or the a/c. But if the noise increases when you are moving then you must check on the wheel bearings, the drive shafts and the inspection of the mudguards for tyre rubbing. If so you will have to jack up the car and check for faulty bearings, drives or tyres. SInce the noise can be traced to the point of generation , you will have to have a friend also to check on one side for pinpointing the sound and identifying the part. This must be easier to find and you can easily replace/repair/change the part concerned. Hope you try. Good day

Loud air intake engine noise on startup

I would guess it is the electronic fan clutch. It will cause the fan to run too fast (very loud) and the light will come on sometimes.

Engine revs realy loud

You have a faulty thermostatically controlled fan clutch. Same thing happened to mine. As soon as you start the car, the fan is always turning, and the speed increases as the RPM is increased.
