2005 hyundai elantra

I just bought this car to find out a few things don't work. First is the radio. They tell me I have to take it to a hyundai dealer and they have to unlock something so the radio will work? Is this true? Also, the remote won't work unless the key is in the ignition, meaning I cannot use it to lock, unlock or set the alarm. They say it's a battery but when keys on the remote are pressed, a red light will flash a few times.

Thank you,,I'll give the local dealership a call and see what they can do for me then. I'm just hoping this isn't something that they tack a fee onto, as I have no idea why it doesn't work,,,,learn something new everyday I suppose LOL Thanks for your help.

The Radio is a True Statement. It will need a Lockout Code installed to bypass the Theft Deterent. On the Remote, The light will still flash But, It could still need a Battery anyway if the Battery has just enough Power to Turn the Light on and not Enough to send the Code to the Vehicle to Perform the Desired Actions.

I am trying to find part numbers. I have a Hyundai Elantra 2005. I need to know the radio fuse number, roof light fuse number and clock fuse number. All of them went out.

Am not sure whether you have the Hyundai Owners Manual. If you don't I find it very worthwhile. Section 6, the "do it yourself section" lists page 6-34 and 6-35 for fuse descriptions. Also on the cover of the fuse box in the car under the ash tray left of the driver is a pictogram, but in any case according to my manual radio and clock are both listed on the "audio" and is in the inner panel, the 10A at the top right(next to the spare). Don't know about your roof light - hope you don't take offense but assume you checked the switch just didn't get set wrong, but if it isn't solved by fixing that one, the manual lists RoomLP controlling the inside lights, which is in the bottom (shorter) row on the far right. Of course, this might not help but if it does I could possibly scan my owner's manual page and email it if you can't find one.

Take/Tow your vehicle to an authorized Hyundai dealership and pay the diagnostic fee... they will tell you exactly what the problem is and the cost of parts/labor to fix it... at least this way you'll know what the problem is and what's required to fix it.
