Can , the better word is should you, or better yet HOW?
the op guide is clear.
but you failed to say?
flat towed,
front or rear
dolly or not>? its in the book and here.
I cam make this simple that A/T rear coupling must not spin
towed.
http://www.fixkick.com/tranny/xfr-case/transfer-case.html

and faq page
http://www.fixkick.com/FAQ/FAQ.HTML

the the transmission rear bearing can burn up easy.
how long or far, well that depends on heat and distance.
age of part, and oil type. and if damaged before.
The bearing has no lubrication, only the remainder from the last
legal usages (engine power)
case in point
spit on hands
then rub them together, see no heat, spit drys and it overheats and hurts. there is your perfect answer.
you must start the engine to get new spit.
dig.?

SOURCE: four wheel drive will not work on 1995 geo tracker

You need to take the cover off your hub and clean and grease the lock ring. It is attached to the spring. It sounds as though your hub is rusted open.

SOURCE: Dinghy Towing

Yes, depending on the year of the vehicle. Roadmaster (800-669-9690) will give you all the info you need for the tow bar and brackets for the car. Remco (800-228-2481) will give you all the info you need to make the car towable. It will take a lube pump for the transmission- model LP-7. Remco does not answer email inquiries, but they are very good on the phone. I bought all of the gear through Roadmaster at the FMCA meeting in Indio in January, so I would recommend your start with a call to Roadmaster. Be advised that the 2010 Lexus RX-350 CANNOT be made towable. The 2007-2009 can be. Also be advised that, if you do this, it will void your warranty- at least as far as the transmission is concerned. The local Lexus dealer told me it would not affect the warranty on other parts of the car. Good luck

SOURCE: need torque setting for 1993 geo tracker front

i1m sorry to say that wheel bearings are not set to a torque specification, when you have repacked the bearings [ inner and outer ] ,reassembled it ,take the nut up until thewheel starts to drag and not turn very far when you try to spin it spin it backward and forward several times, grab the top of the wheel and try to push it in and out,if you getany movement at all tighten the nut a couple of castilations. do it all over again, spinthe wheel a few times and then try for the crossways movement again, if there is no movement ,you are very close to being right....................now comes the experience bit , iwould take it one more castilation of the nut because i know the feel that is need ed,,without that i suggest you put the pin in where you ereput the cap on and go for a 5 minute drive . whenyou get back ,jack it up and thespinning of the wheel again and try for the top crossways movement ,if there is any tighten thenut 2 castilations, and provided that when you try to spin the wheel by hand with a reasonably strong push the wheel should trael about 6 inches at least after your hand leaves it ,it is now a close as you are going to get itput it all to gether and for the next day or so put yor hand on the grease cap after you have driven anydistance, and you will feel it is warm but you should be able tohold your hand on the grease cap. there you have it ,any questions come back."youdoit"

SOURCE: 95 Geo Tracker - Automatic. Starts ok, but when

It needs a fluid change, and filter,in the transmission, also, add a additive called LUBEGUARD from napa auto parts, when you ask for the additive,be sure to get the one for gm,this additive keeps the valve body slick, and moving, this is the problem, your filter, and ,or,the fluid is dirty, and causing hydraulic problems, and valves to stick in the valve body in the transmission.

Can a 2006 saturn VUE 4cyl, 2.2l front wheel drive be flat towed?

if it is an automatic transmission it will need to towed with the front wheels off the ground
Short distance towing with any automatic transmission is ok but it has to be remembered that the gears/bearings will be without lubricating oil
the user manual for all automatic cars states to remove the drive shaft before towing and as that is impracticable with a front wheel drive car , best to tow with the wheels of the ground
consider putting it on a car trailer behind you MH as an alternative operation

I have a 2003 chevy S-10 4x4 crew cab we are wanting to tow behind a motor home. I was wondering how you can put the transfer case into neutral, so we dont have to car dolly it everywhere?

Some customers may want to tow their vehicle behind another vehicle with all FOUR tires on the ground. This is referred to as "dinghy" towing.
Towing in this manner is acceptable only on the certain vehicles. The vehicle should be properly equipped and prepared as described below.
The passenger cars listed above are the vehicles that CAN be dinghy towed. Passenger cars not listed above are vehicles where dinghy towing is not permitted or recommended.
Certain 4WD trucks can be dinghy towed depending on the transfer case option. Rear wheel drive and AWD trucks should NOT be dinghy towed. Refer to the truck models and transfer case options below.
Please refer to the applicable vehicle Owner's Manual before towing.
Passenger Cars Notice: These vehicles must not be towed backwards or transmission damage may occur.

Important: The towing speed as stated in the Owner's Manual should not exceed 104 km/h (65 mph) for 1995-2005 vehicles.
In order to properly dinghy tow the vehicle, follow these steps:
  1. Firmly set the parking brake.
  2. Open the fuse panel and pull the fuse(s) indicated in the Owner's Manual section detailing towing your vehicle. This prevents the instrument panel (IP) and/or electronic PRNDL indicator from draining the battery.
  3. Securely attach the vehicle to the tow vehicle.
  4. Turn the ignition key to the OFF position, which is one position forward of LOCK. Unlocking the steering column allows for proper movement of the front wheels and tires during towing.
  5. For 1997-1999 Cutlass, 1997-2003 Malibu, 2004-2006 Chevrolet Classic and 1999-2004 Alero/Grand Am models, turn the ignition switch to the accessory (ACC) position, which is one position forward of OFF. This position unlocks the transaxle.
  6. Shift the transmission to Neutral (N).
  7. Notice: Use extra care whenever towing another vehicle. Do not exceed the towing vehicle's gross combination weight (GCW) by adding the weight of the dinghy towed vehicle or vehicle damage may result.
  8. When the vehicle being towed is firmly attached to the tow vehicle, release the parking brake.
  9. Replace the fuse(s) in the fuse panel when finished towing.

I need to find out how to tow a jeep grand cherokee limited with full time 4 wheel drive all 4 wheels down behind a motor home. I hope you can help me. Thank you

You can tow in with the transfer case in neutral as long as all 4 wheels are on the ground like with a tow bar.If you use a tow dolly you will have to remove the rear drive shaft. This transfer case has a viscous coupling that will over heat if all the wheel dont turn at the same rate.

Can I tow a 1994 2WHD 5 speed manual transmission with all 4 wheels down?

Yes, with a manual transmission, you're good. An automatic is another story. Manual transmissions do not need the engine running to lubricate it, so towing is unrestricted with them.

1995 geo tracker 5 speed automatic 4x4

wow, you have a 4wd car and dont know how to service it.!

first before you tow any old 95 car around,
you need to be sure
the locking hubs are free, if autolocks ,trash them they are no good for this usage. manual hubs set to FREE position.
they must not be corroded and must unlock.
the wheel bearings must not be ignored, get them greased.
they do come out , ignore idiots who post here and say other wise.
it takes a special tool to remove the bearing locking nut rings.
next make darn sure the brakes are not dragging.

last a dead strut can make a wheel bounce. so check them too.

here is an owners manual, suzuki will give you one for free any time you ask (safety rules )

http://www.freedrive.com/file/823801,95sidekick_owner_manual.zip
please read all of chapter 8, towing. gee my gosh.\

5 ways to tow, not sure yours. only you know. see the book.

i guess you are method B and as you stated , you had it wrong.
tranny is PARKED, Xfr case in N.

and that is a 4speed not 5.

ok that is all the issues, in one post , hope i landed on yours so we can all be safe on the road.

Transmission won't shift from low gear .

Check you transmission fluid if its thin theres your issue if not it could be your bands or your torque converter.
