1999 pontiac sunfire bleeding clutch

I replaced clutch, slave cylinder, cluth master cylinder. can not keep cluth bleed, what do i do

  • Anonymous May 11, 2010

    Hello krj6954,

When you say you can't keep the clutch bleed, what do you mean?
If you have replaced the clutch master cylinder and the slave cylinder
then you should not have a problem with the system unless there is a
leak in the steel hydrolic pipe line or rubber pressure hose going to
the slave. What exactly is it doing that is causing you the
    problem?

Wheres the slave cylinder located at? wen i press my pedal it stays at the floor.what could that be?

Hello Herman, I assume that you are referring to the clutch slave cylinder. Did you check the fluid in the clutch master cylinder? Fill the master cylinder and try it a few times. If it works better but not good enough, you may need to bleed the clutch system. The slave cylinder should bleed at or near the front on the side of the transmission.

Clutch master cylinder gone do i also have to change slave cylinder due to bleeding problems 1999 Grand voyager

No need to change the slave cylinder, but bleed both and if you have low or no brakes then bleed the brakes too.

Can i replace slave cylinder without removing transmission

Yes, follow the brake fluid line from the clutch master, you'll see the slave, two bolts and a brake line, very simple. Bench bleeding before you install new one will save time.

Why does clutch leak off and wont go into gear 96 toyota tacoma when you push on clutch pedal goes to the floor it wont engage clutch to be able to put into gear

the most likely reason is either the clutch master cyl. needs to be replaced.or the.slave cyl. its mounted down on the transmation under the hood find the resivore for the clutch. check the fluid level.if its low , fill it back up , and look for signs of a leak
you will probally have to bleed out all of the air from the system.its done almost the same way as bleeding the brakes. Good Luck.

Clutch pedal stays 2 the floor on a hydralic clutch system on a 2000 camaro v8. clutch master cylinder is new also slave cylinder and clutch and pressure plate

Did you bleed the system? When you replace the the master and/or slave cylinder you have to bleed the system just as you would with brakes. There is a bleed screw on the slave cylinder. Open the bleed screw, have a helper depress and hold the clutch pedal down.Tighten the bleed screw, then release clutch. Repeat this procedure until you have removed all air from the system and the clutch pedal is firm. Keep an eye on the fluid level to avoid sucking air into the system. If you have done this, remember there is a possibility that the master or slave cylinder is defective.

5 speed manual transmission wont shif gears while running

You probably have air in the system. You need to bleed the air out of the system so that it will disengage your clutch. The air in the system is compressing and, therefore, the slave cylinder can't reach the full extension.

96 pontiac sunfire

YOU HAVE A LEAKING MASTER OR SLAVE CLUTCH HYDRAULIC CYLINDER (AIR LEAKING INTO THE SYSTEM), SINCE THESE ARE ALWAYS REPLACED TOGETHER IT MAKES NO DIFFERENCE WHICH IS THE PROBLEM CYLINDER.
