2009 forester gas tank door

My new forester gas tank door has had 3 incidents where it won't open. When the dealership pryed it open a small silver piece fell out. The first two times they just stuck it back in and squeezed the piece so it would hopefully stay put. The third time it happened in 1 1/2 months of ownership, they changed the spring. It worked for two fill ups and after the second fill up, I closed the gas door and it popped really loud inside and now no one can pry it open. have you ever heard of this problem? i am going to the dealership tomorrow for the 4th time and I am tired of hearing excuses and no solutions. i sincerely appreciate any and i mean any ideas.

    Gas door will not open!
    Subaru Impreza 2008
By now you would think they would have
a safety pull or something in the trunk!

I had the same issue with my 08 WRX I saw a metal tab came loose I put it back where i thought it went on the inside door of the gas tank. I only have 5000 miles on my WRX and I am experiencing this for the first time.

Get to gas tank gas tank lock stuck

There is a cable that activates the lock on the tank door. Hit the unlock button and the go to the door and pry it open GENTLY with a non metal object e.g. plastic knife, popsicle stick, etc. If this does not work, then have another person hold open the door button while you pry it.

My 2002 subarue foresters battery is dead, electric locks won't open, key won't work in lock. How do i manually pop the hood w/o access to the cabin

This can be a very difficult procedure and sometimes not possible on certain makes and models. It may be easier to gently pry the top of the door away from the vehicle and insert a small wedge to keep it ajar. Take apart a coat hanger and insert through door opening and with hook end grab door lock and open.

The console piece around my shifter on my 2009 forester was damaged by the acids in an air freshener leaning against it. when I tried to wipe what I thought would come off, the paint came off. I need to...

Go to the Subaru dealer and point out what you need to the parts dept. The piece may just be pried out, when you get the new one you will see what holds it in.

Gas tank switch broke

Use a flat head screwdriver or flat blade and pry the fuel door open. The door is held shut by a spring clip towards the rear. You might be able to pry it open just using a key.

I went to gas up and found that I couldn't open the gas tank door on my 2006 Subaru Forester. There is no dealership near and I am nearly out of gas. Is there a fix that I can do?

If there's no resistance when you pull on the release handle on the floor board, most likely your cable has broken.

If you can, try to pull the trim off the floorboard area and if you're lucky, it'll have separated from the lever and see if you can see the cable and pull on it directly.

Alternatively, you'll have to remove the trim on the inside of your car directly behind the fuel door to access the cable that would control the latch of the fuel door. Then you can force the latch to release from there. You may want to just remove the fuel door until you can reinstall a new cable as that will require you to remove a lot of your trim to run the cable.

If you're lucky and the cable broke right at the ends, you could tie the new cable to the old one and fish it through

What is the means of opening the fuel tank door on a 2009 Subaru Forester?

i'm guessing you have a problem with the release cable?try slipping your credit card in between door and plunger that pops it open, the plunger is located at the rearmost centerof the door ,the door striker that rsts against plunger could just be out of adjustment,if you operate the release and see the plunger moving it's ok,adjust the striker a simple little tug towards the plunger is sometimes all it takes

GAS TANK LEVER 2001 NISSAN ALTIMA

If you can't glue the handle back on, e.g. with urethane glue (gorilla glue, Elmers Nano, etc.; use as directed, cleaning lever and plastic cover with soap and water just before gluing) then you can just buy a part like Nissan 84640-9E000 (1998 Altima exact replacement; Nissan call it a Handle- Trunk & Gas Door Release.)

That will work fine as long as the gas filler door mechanism isn't messed up; go check for obstructions once you open the door, presumably by using a small locking pliers over a cloth or some rubber on the lever (or the cable wire.)

The trick is, you get to replace it with the door open; use a blade screwdriver to pry the running-board trim up, unscrew the bolt on the trim to the left and pry that off, undo some expander bolts holding the carpet across the running-board area, and wrangle the carpet away from the lever you want to replace.  Some 10mm wrench work gets the lever loose, and you tilt the loosened stuff forwards to be able to remove the cable.  Regrease the bolts and cable run as well as you can.  Thread the new handle through the carpet before you bolt it in; it's harder to set up and bolt, but you don't have to cut the carpet or remove the seat!
