Two months ago we filled the tank with unleaded petrol instead of leaded petrol. Now the vehicle era in second gear. Has the unleaded petrol caused any trouble or is this some other problem. Also I want to know if this vehicle is fitted with a catalytic converter.
Easy to check. look under the vehicle close to the manifold and if you see an oval shaped stainless steel containerther you most likely will have a c/c. next point if you use leaded in a unleaded vehicle it will affect the catalytic converter buy causing it to block up.next the oxygen senson may be contaminated and not sending the right readings to the cpu so the engine management system will be affected. Best have it checked at a dealer before you do any more damage.

You probably have way too much unburned fuel in your exhaust system (how's your mileage?) or possibly a failed oxygen sensor that is giving false information to the computer.

There are two primary reasons for cat failure; rich running or an ignition miss. Lack of maintenance is usually the cause, you should really be changing your spark plugs about every 40,000 miles even though they're platinum and the dealer recommendation is probably over 100,000. This is one of the worst mistakes manufacturers made in the last ten years, trying to market maintenance free vehicles. Spark plugs degrade and cause more unburnt gases to be released into the cat where it causes damage.
The other big one is the O2 sensor, these also degrade over time and should be replaced if they're signal starts to degrade. Only an experienced tech with a scope can measure this though. It's a good idea just to replace your primary O2's every 100.000 miles. Another cause could be an engine that burns oil, if excessive amounts enter the cat it will degrade rapidly.

Below are the steps needed to remove the catalytic converters. You may be able to first remove the band clamp from between the converter and the exhaust manifold, then loosen the rest of the system and to get enough clearance to slide the converter towards the front of the vehicle but you will need to first remove the clamp that holds the converter to the rest of the exhaust. First you need to raise the vehicle.
Next, you need to pry the insulators from the support brackets and support the muffler and tailpipe with jackstands.
Then, loosen the the catalytic converter down pipe-to-front resonator clamps and separate the front resonator from the converter down-pipes. Carefully lay the free laying exhaust on the ground.

Right Catalytic Converter
Then, remove the down-pipe-to-transaxle bracket nut, loosen the clamp and separate the extension pipe from the converter.
Next lower the vehicle and remove the air filter and intake ducts. Disconnect the wiring harness for the O2 sensor and the remove the sensor.
Finally loosen the band clamp at the exhaust manifold and remove the converter from the engine compartment. You may need to replace these clamps after removal because you need to pry it apart and they will leak when you reinstall.

Now disconnect the wiring harness for the O2 sensor and the remove the sensor.
Next remove the down-pipe-to-transaxle bracket nut
Finally loosen the band clamp at the exhaust manifold and remove the converter from the engine compartment.
