Changed mass air sensor still stalling 1997 nissan pathfinder

have vehicle scanned for trouble codes --w/out cats your o2 sensors are not going to work correctly and cause erratic problems such a stalling

Undo your battery overnight so the computer will reset and see if that helps.if it does not you will probably have to take it to an auto parts store and see if they can reset it

Mass air flow meter needs a clean http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MIkCH0Y6QFM Just done mine same problem works a treat. Try and get the correct mass air flow cleaner do not use petrol or anything else you will strip the coating on the very thin wires and it will then cost you. Watch the video for the location of said ar flow meter. Good luck.

It can be low fuel pressure issue or clogged fuel pump.Or its engine related issues,---------------

After it stalls check to see if you have fuel pressure. I've seen fuel pumps run for a while and then just quit, when they cool off they work again. If the pressure is good then check your ignition componets or have a friend crank the engine over while you check for spark. If your ignition componets check out ok it could be the ecm (computer). I have a local 'pull-a-part' salvage yard where I can get computers for $10 bucks. Sometimes $10 can save a lot of headaches. I don't see how the mass air flow sensor or distributor would produce these symptoms.

When the MAF on most vehicles reach a point of preventing the engine from starting, you can usually just unplug it and the engine will start. If that doesn't work-
You may want to try having the O2 sensor, ( Oxygen sensor ), checked. It works with other components of the emission system and can cause similar symptoms as the MAF, including preventing the engine from starting.

There is a relay on the rh passenger side kick panel above the automatic transmission module that is controlled by the ECU through the MAF sensor that controls your fuel to the engine so the air / fuel mixture is correct. I fixed a pathfinder one time with a similar stalling problem.
