Fixed timing marks on a toyota tercel 1.5 3ac enging 1986

Cam timing mark is a hole in the cam wheel which when positioned vertical a dot or an arrow behind it can be viewed through the hole and aligned with it.

Crank mark is another dot at about 2 o'clock and a notch in the disc behind the toothed pulley.
If there is any difficulty locating the mark, usually removing the no1 spark plug will allow a rod to rest on the piston top while the crank is gently turned. When the rod indicates tdc the two marks should be approximately in line.

92 dlx tercel, cranks fine, won't fire. No prior start issues in 17 yrs.

Igniter usually. You need a few things. Do you have fuel? To the carb not just in the fuel tank. And do you have spark? Check all plugs. Turn car over with a plug wire removed and see if you have spark otherwise you need to diagnose air intake or compression. Usually igniter if you have no spark.
Hope this helps.

Vehicle will not start. There is fuel in the tank and it has a manual fuel pump. Not sure if there is spark from the distributor cap or ignition coil.

1998 it doesnt have a distributor ,so assuming its a older model then pull the middle lead out of the distributor cap and hold it close to the engine metal and crank engine if no spark then its a high probability its a ignition module

95 toyota tercle will not start

1. check the battery if its charged or not by blowing the horn.
2. if the battery is ok try crank the engine if it doesnt crank then you have a starter problem.
3. after you crank the engine check if you have enough fuel on your tank.
4. if it wont start check the ignition system for electrical supply on your spark plugs and if everything fails you got to let a mechanic check your car.

Engine cranks but won't start

Take of spark plug after severval cranks, to see if it is wet.
1- If it dry, then you don't have fuel spraying in.
2- If it is wet then you have fuel spraying in. then go to the followings:
3- Crank the engine and hold the spark plug touching the chasis to see if it is sparking.
4- If it is not sparking then you have a problem with the ignition distributor.
5-If it is sparking then you need to check your engine compression.

Idles too low

A clogged fuel injector would make the engine shake, and your power would be compromised.
Whe you changed the plugs, did you put Toyota plugs in, or a different brand? More often than not, using any other plug than plugs bought at a Toy dealer can make the engine run worse. The engines are designed with a specific plug. Also, replace the wires if they are older than 5 years.

No spark

This happened to me on my toyota tercel, and I found that the distibutor cap's seal was split, and the cap itself had a small crack in it. I fixed the problem for less than $20 by getting a new cap from advance auto parts.
