Wishbones are a common problem with the escort, ensure that the bushes on the wishbones haven't worn by jacking up the car on axel stands if you have any, then take hold of the front wheel (either one) and shake to see if there is any play in it, also make sure that the tyres are ok,

When driving my98 escort the wheels feel like they are going to fall off. there is alot of shaking and the steering wheel is not straight to

The first thing I would check for is a bent wheel. If the wheel is straight than the next thing to check would be a separated tire.

The tread on the tire should be smooth and even all the way around. If it is bulging out in a spot than the tire is separated.

Since the steering wheel is not straight I would suspect there is more to the story. Did you hit a curb or a pothole? If so you may have also bent some suspension components (worst case) or best case knocked the alignment out.

Ford escort estate, when applying the gas the car moves to the left or right. even more so when slight turning and applying the gas the car is all over the place

If I understand correctly the steering wheel must be held in different positions to keep the car going straight while accelerating/braking accelerate hold wheel to one side ...braking hold wheel to other side. check strut mount(rubber mount on top of strut where it contacts car body)

Knocking trom font of car when....

sounds like a cv axle noise i have found you cant change inner without outer, for the time spent you should replace the axle as a whole,,much easier too. front wheel drive cars are hard on front end bushings and etc. the coil springs seem to sqirm in there saddles when they get old too making creaking noises, no big deal on ford escort, tempo, topaz, sable,,,,,
