My 1995 Honda Civic EX has an issue with the main relay, I have discovered that the relay is not grounded. I have had issues with the car not starting, I found out that if I turn the switch on but not start it.....listen for a click that would ingage the fuel pump then it would start. It has started to do this again but now would not hear the click, so I went out and purchased another relay. Still would not start or could I hear the click, I grabbed my test light grounded it to the door. While testing for power I discovered when I touched one of the wires the fuel pump would run but not start. Since reading the other issues people were having with this I understand that it also control the fireing. I'm thinking that it's not grounded?

SOURCE: 94 Honda Ex Will not start Where is the Fuel Pump Fuse?

it is sometimes located on the engine bay or interior fuse box just check the labels.., or you can try turning your car on but dont start the engine try to check on the back portion or near the tank if you can hear the fuel pump. Failure or low pressure fuel pump will stall you engine.

SOURCE: main relay assembly for 1995 Honda Accord

the relay cover slides off very easily so you can expose the circuit board take your pgmfi relay apart and you will see two small relays on the board look at the contacts for the relays to see if theyre burnt then turn the board over and look at the sauder joints at least one of these will probably be burnt or not enough sauder will be ther to make a good connection.Look real carefully at these i use a magnifying glass my self because i have seen numerous times where the sauder will have a small crack (like a ring or circle) around it causing a poor connection these are the most common problem with these relays (almost the only problems) i have seen in the past six years that i have worked at my local honda dealer

Can't find main fuel pump relay in my 2003 Honda civic ex

The main relay is a common issue with Civics. Luckily, they are abundant and cheap. If you were sitting in the passenger seat, it would be in front of your left knee, just up and under the glove box. Let me guess? You have that steady non-starting sound? Car is trying to start but won't? Good luck dear, and remember you can get these pretty inexpensively. Ebay, junk yards, and any other parts stores. I prefer INTEX for new parts.

I do know that there is a main relay in the car that plays an important role in the car starting/running. I have changed many distributors, thinking that they were deffective. When turns out that relay was Intermittently working causing the car to run one day and not the Next. I do know that heat is a factor because if my car windows were left up and it was burning hot inside the car it wouldn't start, but once it cooled down it would start. Sounds like yours is just completely dead. It costs like $80.00 for the relay but and acura/honda repair shop should have them stocked.... Notoriously known for similar issues your having due to deffective MAIN RELAY

Have 1999 honda civic ex w/ v-tech motor we have replace computer, main relay, distubor, coil, and fuses still will not fire

have you check the plug at the right strut tower? the plug comes loose and it causes the car not to start. one thing to do is check for power and ground pulse at the coil. also check the ignitor in the distributor to make sure it is sending signal to the coil.

Dashboard wont light up

So, this is not a 2000 Hyundai Sonata? I used to own a 2000 Honda Civic and I believe those lights get power from a fuse inside the fuse/relay panel located on the driver's side under the dash. Check all your fuses. If all fuses are good, you've got a wiring problem - check for power & ground at each bulb. Obviously, if you don't have power to them, it's a power distribution/wiring issue. If you do have power to them but no ground, it's still a wiring issue.
