How to reattach wire on window regulator

Car was iced up, got door open and put car in heated garage. When the car warmed up, the driver side window had slid down about an inch. Took door apart and discovered the end of the cable was not attached. I'm now searching the web to find instructions on how to reconnect cable.

SOURCE: REAR DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR PANEL

There are most likely a couple of screws mabye hidden under a little plug or plastic cover around the door handle and on the under side of the panel. Then if it is a crank style window you will have to remove the window crank handle, after that there are plastic panle pop clips you will just have to pull on panle and they should pop out, then lift the panle up off the window door seal.

I bought my Firebird brand new and I didn't know this car had that option. The power window and locks are on the same relay, do the door locks and windows work with the key in "run" but engine not on? If the battery was disconnected it might have disengaged this feature. Check the owners manual, it might tell you how to turn it back on.

SOURCE: Replace regulator on driver's side window of a 2005 Sunfire

i dont know of any car window regulator that is attached to the outer door skin. generally there should only be 5 mounting screws holding the regulator in the door cavity. 2 on the top 2 on the bottom and one near the regulator motor. when these are sent to the manufacture the lifting plates that hold the glass are in what is called a shipping position. which allows them to install the regulator in the door and then attached the glass. this position is generally half way up the guide rail. so picture the window only being open half way. look at the regulatr that you bought. the position of the lifting plates (glass attachments) is where the regulator inthe door should be in order to get it out. good luck

Depends, Front or rear door, power or manual regulator?

Here is the front side/power

  1. Lower the window to the three quarters down position.
  2. Remove the door trim panel.
  3. Remove the water deflector in order to access the window regulator.
  4. Remove the window to regulator nuts (4).
  5. Push the window to the closed position and tape in place.
  6. Disconnect the regulator electrical connector.
  7. Removed the power window regulator bolts (3).
  8. Drill out the power window regulator rivets (2).
  9. Remove the power window regulator (5) from the door.

OMG. I replaced the battery in my 06 G6 and had the same problem. the windows would not roll up or down how they did before. I read the answers on here and it does work. Hold up the window switch for ten seconds and it resets. You will have to do it to each window. Worked great. Thanks

1998 licoln continental driver side back passenger windows not working

I could see one window not working from a broken wire inside the door flex , but not both back windows . Back windows are controlled by LF door module . Both back windows have different grounds - LR G200 an RR G201 . Also both rear window switches have different power supply's .RR switch fuse # 18 30 amp . LR is fuse b# 9 40 amp . Both window motors or switche's going out at same time ???? wouldn't think so .

      • Scratched grid.
    1. If inspection reveals an obvious concern that is readily serviced, correct the concern before continuing with Inspection and Verification.
    1. If the concern remains after inspection, connect the Rotunda New Generation Star (NGS) Tester 007-00500 or equivalent to the data link connector (DLC) located beneath the instrument panel to perform DATA LINK DIAGNOSTICS test. If the NGS responds with NO RESPONSE/NOT EQUIPPED for the driver door module, go to Pinpoint Test A . If the NGS responds with NO RESPONSE/NOT EQUIPPED for the lighting control module, go to Pinpoint Test B . If the DATA LINK DIAGNOSTICS test is passed for the drivers door module and lighting control module, retrieve continuous DTCs and execute Self Test Diagnostics for the driver door module and lighting control module to retrieve current DTCs.
    1. If self test is passed and no DTCs are retrieved, go to the Symptom Chart to continue diagnostics.
    1. If DTCs are retrieved, go to the Driver Door Module (DDM) Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Index or Lighting Control Module (LCM) Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Index to continue diagnostics.
    1. If the driver door module cannot be accessed by the NGS, GO to Pinpoint Test A . If the lighting control module cannot be accessed by the NGS, go to Pinpoint Test B .

Driver side window will not come down. when I press button to roll down dome light in car comes on.

The most common problem with Cabrio auto windows is the Window regulator. Each window has it's own. My wife also owns a 2002 Cabrio, that had a mis-behaving window driver window and the passenger was locked in the up position. After inspecting the drivers window, I found one of the cable roller guides was broken, causing the cable to snag when using the window open / close, and resulting in the window seeming to have a mind of it's own. I had a local garage order the regulator for me, and then I disassembled the drivers door and installed the new regulator (problem is now solved).
The passenger window was bound up, I also had to remove the regulator and let loose the tension in the cable system by carefully removing the cover over the cable roller. This window works fine now as well.

How to change regulator motor on a 2003 buick

from Ehow.com. Long answer
All Buick automobiles now have powered windows for both front and back doors. These powered windows use a motor attached to a continuous screw that lifts and lowers a lattice device for opening and closing the window. Each window also has a window regulator to tell the motor when to stop both lowering the window and raising it into place. Occasionally, this regulator will become faulty and need to be replaced. Although not a difficult procedure, it does mean having to disassemble the Buick's door.
jQuery('.intro .thumbnail').each(function(i,e){ jQuery(e).find('img').one('error',function(){ jQuery(e).remove(); }); });
    Door Armrest
  1. The first thing to do is remove the Buick's armrest on the door. Underneath the armrest, hidden from view, are large screws that go all the way into the doorframe. Remove all of these screws and the armrest will come free. Once it's loose, carefully disconnect all the wires to the remote control switches. The driver door armrest will have more wires than the other doors. Door Panel
  2. Once you've removed the armrest, you can take off the inside door panel. Start by going all the way around the door's edges and removing all the fasteners. Once you've removed these may find some clips holding the panel tight, depending on your model Buick. Carefully unfasten these and then work the door panel up off its guide at the top of the door next to the window opening and around the car door handle. If your Buick has a door-mounted nightlight, disconnect the wires to the accessory. This will give you access to the door's interior. Removing the Old Regulator
  3. Inside the door there are two components with electrical wires: the motor and the regulator. The motor is attached to a long threaded bolt. Remove the wires connected to the regulator and then the screws mounting the regulator to the doorframe. Be careful not to scratch the window with the screwdriver when working in these close quarters. Once the regulator is free inside the door, lift it out of the door. Installing the New Regulator
  4. Installation is just doing the removal procedure in reverse: put the regulator in the door, secure it, connect the wires (no need to solder; the wires are connected with tabs), and reattach the door panel, the switch wiring and the arm rest.

It should take no longer than an hour to complete this project. One quick warning, however---never force or strain any part to remove it. If a component does not come free easily, then check again for an extra screw or retaining clip. Don't get frustrated and break something that ends up being more expensive than the cost of the new regulator!

03 Chevy Venture....Clarification Passenger Window stuck down.

It will be in the switch lift up the controls on both the drivers side and passenger side the wires going into the connection wiggle then and the button at the same time if you get any movement then you have a broken wire if not use a test light hook one wire to some metal and the other to the wires if their is any power the light will come on, if no light then you probably have a broken wire. The passenger side power comes from the drivers side control. When you open the doors you will see a large black set of wiring harness in the door going into the side under the dash that is the wiring harness for all the power windows and door locks, open it and test those wires for power.
