Should be a 20amp fuse for parking lights & 40 amp for headlights. Have you got a test light to check for power at headlights themselves?

Are these interior lights our the headlights? If it is the interior lights, you should pull the dimmer switch and check for a bad connection especially the ground connection on the back side. If that is okay, you may need to buy a new switch. If it is the headlights, check for a bad relay.

My headlights stopped working on my 1996 dodge dakota and i need to know what to look for to fix the problem.

First check fuse. If OK, find headlight relay in relay box under hood. Turn on lights, pull relay out, and use a test light to test each terminal in the socket for power. There should be 2 hot terminals, one from th ebattery and one from the switch. If you have only one, your switch or wiring are bad. Next, plug the relay back in and listen for a click as you do. If you had 2 hot terminals, the relay should click. If not, replace the relay. If you have 2 hopt terminals and the relay is working, the problem is in the wiring going form the relay box to the headlights. If you have more questions, please let us know.
