Escort check engine light - code = P0125

My daughter has a 2001 Ford Escort and the check engine light came on. I connected a buddies code reader to the car and got the code P 0125. I also get the message "Insufficient coolant temp closed loop fuel control"

Can anyone offer a further explanation? I have a 2003 ZX-2 with the same code. I changed the temp sensor and the thermostat. You need a t-25 torx to remove the 3 screws to get at the thermostat, but the sensor is just held in with a pin. Both are located at the front right side of the engine.

Sensor was about $20 and the thermostat and rubber gasket added up to about $10 so I changed both.

I have an '03 Escort. Two days ago, the service engine light came on. I took the car to Advance Auto, and they put the OBD on it, and the code P0125 came up with the same explanation, insufficient coolant temp, etc.

I notice yesterday when checking the oil that the coolant looked a little low, but nothing drastic. I've also been told that these sensors can be highly sensitive.

Is there any other reason, aside from low coolant for this code to come up?

2001 ford taurus with check engine light on. code

Make sure you replaced the right one there are two sensor's for the coolant, one takes coolant temp and the other one runs the fans for the radiator. Both are located on drivers side of the block. 2 wire leads on each how ever both are different in sending readings to the computer. Both look just alike also. Just make sure you replaced the right one. Or replace both.

2001 ford escort zx2

Take it to Autozone, they will hook up a code reader for free, they will tell you why the light came on. Before you take it, make sure your gas cap is on tight. Thats a major reason that the light comes on.

Escort check engine light - code = P0125

Sounds as if the car is not getting warm enough, which could mean that your thermostat is stuck in the open position. Try changing it. That should take care of the problem. Depending on which brand you get, the thermostat will most likely cost you between $8.00-$16.00.

Also, check the coolant level. Make sure its at a proper level. The Temperature Sensor could be bad as well.
