My daughter has a 2001 Ford Escort and the check engine light came on. I connected a buddies code reader to the car and got the code P 0125. I also get the message "Insufficient coolant temp closed loop fuel control"
Can anyone offer a further explanation?
I have a 2003 ZX-2 with the same code. I changed the temp sensor and the thermostat. You need a t-25 torx to remove the 3 screws to get at the thermostat, but the sensor is just held in with a pin. Both are located at the front right side of the engine.
Sensor was about $20 and the thermostat and rubber gasket added up to about $10 so I changed both.

I have an '03 Escort. Two days ago, the service engine light came on. I took the car to Advance Auto, and they put the OBD on it, and the code P0125 came up with the same explanation, insufficient coolant temp, etc.
I notice yesterday when checking the oil that the coolant looked a little low, but nothing drastic. I've also been told that these sensors can be highly sensitive.
Is there any other reason, aside from low coolant for this code to come up?
p0125 code what the hell is the problem.replaced thermostat temp.sending unit fuel filter
