This problem started a week ago, I notice vehicle loosing power while driving, I look under the hood and observed Catalytic Converter red in color and appear to be hot. I replaced old converter with new one, but to no avail, I'm still experiencing the same problem. no other problems noted with vehilce. Local shop perform computer test, sensors appears to be fine, test result, no problems noted. I don't know what else could be causing problems.
Make sure exhaust is coming out of tail pipe. Muffler could have came apart inside and is blocking flow.
May need a tune up and cat converters do get red and are hot

Couls be inadequately closed radiator cap.
Or the wrong radiator cap.
check if the radiator cap is properly rightened, or if it was replaced with the worng one.

May be an over rich fuel condition.
Repair the cause first
The converter is as good as dead, as a result of the real issues

Check the EGR valve and the oxygen sensor.
Either can cause problems with fuel mixture.
Run a computer diagnostic on the vehicle; the onboard computer knows what's going on and should be able to tell you what needs attention.

usually the ecu never gives a code on a catalytic converter, but rather the o2 sensors. it seems much more logical that it is the o2 sensors than the cat. fixing the problem usually makes the light go away but not always, so resetting the computer is adviced. also, resetting the ecu would not change the way the car runs because it should be working normally, which means, if its running rich, the problem still exists. like i said, most likely it is the o2 sensors, especially because they go out fairly commonly. hope this helps, good luck.
p.s., if the muffler did get replaced, need high flow o2 sensors, but that depends on the muffler. also, i posted alink to a lexus forum so when ever you have problems with your car, you can ask there:
