My transfer case keeps blowing gaskets where it meets the tailshaft on my 99 chevy silverado iv replaced the rear, front rear, trans, tranfer case, tailshaft and drive shafts no idea what is going on
Did you ever figure out the issue? My 2000 silverado 4x4 is doing the same thing?
I need a bit more information I take it this a 4x4 cause when you talk about transfer case it means 4x4 and am I to understand you replaced the transmission and transfer case and tail shaft?
yes i have replaced all those thing. and yes it is 4x4. I also noticed today that the front drive shaft always spins even when in 2wd. It's a push button 4x4 and idk if its supposed to to that or maybe my problem is that the transfer case is stuck in gear?
Thank you for clarifying that may be your problem if it is indeed continuously in 4 wheel drive and driving down the highway at high speed will cause it to build up more pressure than normal. Was there any codes to report about? Let me know.
well i just looked on a bunch of forums and they say it is supposed to always spin if you have autotrac 4x4 so idk. this problem is never ending. Idk what to do. The only cods i have triped was knock sensor. Nothing to do with the transfer case...
That may be so but still to be certain jack up the front and back end of your vehicle and support it securely then start and put it in gear and see if your fron wheels spin if so that will be where your probelm is at. You should not be going 60 or 70 mph while engaged in four wheel drive like I said it will buil up more pressure than normal. Let me know.
You may also want to check all vacuum lines to it and from it as some vehicle are equipped with a valve operating on vacume or check ball
