ABS light comes on, then Battery, Dash lights flash

Lately, everyonce in awhile, I will start my 2000 Dodge Stratus, and the ABS light will be on, and after a few minutes the battery light comes on. If I Drive for about 30 minutes, shut off car, and then restart, everything is fine. I have already replaced the battery, and that lasted for about 4 months and then started all over again.

I am assuming it is an electrical short, but wanted to know if there was a good area to start looking or if anyone else has experienced the same thing.

Why won't my key turn the ignition for my 2000 Dodge Stratus. The steering wheel is not locked but neither key will turn in the ignition.

Probably aftermarket alarm. Should be a small switch close to it to turn it off. If it were mine, I would remove the system .

Why are your using it-- for some time ?

When you start the motor or drive, and any dash light
comes on, you have problems & stop using it, & have it
checked for codes, to see the system with the fault, & get
it diagnosed & repaired, not continue to use it, & possibly
do damage to something

The fact that you've blown 2 fuses unrelated is odd. Have you been in a accident in the front lately? The most of the cars lately don't have a voltage regulator, it's in the ECM. So what goes on when the ign. fuse blows? Is there a different fuse for the ECM?

My 2000 Dodge Stratus will not start. The battery is fine. It does not make a sound when trying to start it. The only thing to light up on the panel is the brake light when I turn the key. The check engine...

do the self test for the check engine light.

insert key turn to on(not cranking)off, on off, on. The code will either show up on a digital odometer or will flash out in pulses on the check engine light. jot down the numbers; they will come in pairs. This may aide in repairing your car. report back

Stratus confusion

This is a real common problem on caravan. But I haven't seen it on stratus. But it might be the same thing. When it won't start the gauge won't work at the same time? When it does this does slapping the side of the dash make the gauges work and then the car starts? Try this

Battery light comes on when I start my car.

It may be the alternator... not a very expensive part to replace your self, about $150.

Battery for 98 Stratus

The light you speak of is actually indicating an issue with the charging system and is usually an indicator of a faulty alternator.
However if your light flashes and doesn't remain lit it could be a sign of a bad connection in the charging system. If it only flashes once in a while you are better off to wait until it remains lit for a while. Simply because electrical diagnosis is very time consuming and the mechanic can spend hours looking and still not find a clear cause for your issue. And these wasted hours can cost you BIG.
But keep in mind that when that light is lit your battery is not receiving a charge and will go dead and could leave you stranded. So don't stray too far from home until you can get this issue resolved
hope this helps! and thanks for choosing FIX YA!
