My 99 Jetta wasn't running because it had a major short in it. Took it to a car electrician. Fix most of the problem. Car is running but now it won't shut off when the ignition key is removed. I had to remove fuse 32 inorder to shut off the car. Also the temperature guage needle doesn't move but the fans come on after a good drive. Can you pls help? Thank you.

Electrician has miswired the car or didn't properly repair the short. Very hard to know what he did wrong. Will he not fix it himself?

SOURCE: how do i fix the Coolant Level (ECL) Sensor

Figuring the car is not overheating because it does it even with the engine cold sounds like a defective level sensor. Like on most VW's inside the reservoir bowl the level sensor is located. First make sure the level of coolant is filled to the maximum line while the vehicle is cold. (not run for a few hours) If that's ok check the density of your coolant. Requires a coolant tester that you can pick up at any automotive store. It should be between -36 and -45 degrees C. (A good mix of coolan and water) Also make sure you use the right coolant. In 98 it should be pinkish red. And get it from the dealer. Do NOT MIX coolants as it could destroy the system. If it is unplug the connector at the level sensor on the bowl and make sure the terminals are not corroded. If they are not before starting he car jump the 2 terminals with a paper clip or wire to fool the cluster into thinking the coolant is full. Be careful not to damage the terminals or spread them. Start the car, the flashing light should not come on. If it doesn't your problem is the level sensor in the bowl. You'll have to replace the bowl to replace the sensor. They're one piece. Not very expensive. You can usually save the coolant in the bowl and reuse it if it's ok by blocking the bottom hose and putting your finger to save what's in the bowl.

SOURCE: VW Jetta. Radio and clock are not working...

Radios often have a security code which needs to be entered when the radio is first turned on or if it has been disconnected. If you have the radio manual, then there should be a card with a number on it. Enter this via the channel selection buttons to resume normal service

(If your battery was entirely dead, then it may have been to low to maintain the normal operation of the radio; i.e. it "forgot" the code).

If you haven't got this code, then go to your dealer, who will advise

My key won't go into ignition on my 2007 jetta

Try moving wheel back and forth while putting key in. Or if thats not it, take a screw driver flathead and try to turn ignition both ways just a bit. Sometimes those key cylinders dont go back into the open key position. Try that as you are moving the whhel as well. but my car does the same thing in the cold, and a screw driver seems to do it every time. Good luck let me know how you make out. PS Im guessing that ther is not something stuck inside ignition?? Good luck

99 malibu, key won't turn in ignition (it's new cylinder and casing that worked fine before I changed gear shift back to park and connected the battery)

Shake ya sterring wheel from side to side and try turning ya key. The lock could be stuck and needs to be freed up. This should do the trick.

Both keys won't turn igination on my 2006 Honda Accord.....what to do???

Try slightly turning your steering wheel while turning the key. ( Your wheel will be locked but should still be able to move a bit. Don't force the key too much or you could break it, and make things much worse. If that doesn't work your ignition may be defective.

93" k1500 suburban- ignition key

I just saw your newer post..or the original post with more information available.

Your K1500 has the ignition switch positioned on the steering column. The switch is control via a linkage rod that is actuated from the key cylinder.(which may have failed.) But I suspect your problems may be in the switch itself.

See the procedure here at Just Answer Chevy to remove and install a new switch:
Fix Your Chevy With Your Own Hand

PS: After removing the actuator rod see if the lock cylinder rotates freely...if it does the switch is the source of your problem.

1995 chevy lumina sensor went out and fan wont turn

How did you determine that the sensor failed. Did the check engine light come on? When you say that the fan won't turn, do you mean that it won't turn on and run or that you can't physically turn it by hand. To determine this, disconnect the electrical connector to the fan and try to turn it by hand. It should turn easily. If it doesn't then it must be replaced. If it does then reconnect the electrical connector to the fan and try to operate it by disconnecting the temperature sensor lead and placing a jumper wire between the terminals of the harness. turn the AC control to AC/MAX and turn the ignition key to on. If the fan runs then the problem is the sensor. If it doesn't then check the fan control relay and any related fuses. WARNING : Use extreme caution when testing the fan circuit. Never attempt to turn the fan with the electrical connector in place. The fan can operate at any time even if the engine is off.
