Check your valves! Good chance you bend one when timing chain broke.

If the ignition and valve timing are ok. check out fuel pressure and flow. also do a compression test to make sure all is ok there.

SOURCE: 2004 KIA Optima LX timing belt/water pump

The thing is your doing the timing belt the water pump is right their with it . it should cost you much more at all besides the cost of the water pump. When doing a timing belt I have a rule that I go by The timing belt/seals =cam , crank , any pulley & tensioner & water pump all get replaced at the same time. I did a t-belt on a Audi A-8 very complex whole front of car has to come off as well, he didnt want to do w-pump & thermostat his thermostat was their as well not even a month later the water pump gave out he had to pay double the price because he didnt want to do it when I had it apart the first time. And make sure mechanic is ase certified . good luck

SOURCE: How do I replace the timing belt and the crankshaft sensor ?

if you have never done one take it to a shop because if you have the timing off a little you take a chance of bending valves then you would need a new head

We tried to replace the timing belt ourselves, and even though we had done it fine on other cars, we blew the engine and had to replace it. It is NOT worth it!!!

03 kia sorento Engine knocking after replacing water pump oil pump and timing belt

Who did the work? take it back. If it's DIY double check your work. Knoking as in metalic engine , or knocking as in gas preignition. If gas preignition, timing belt is off a few notches. If it's similar to this google: 2003 kia sorento interference engine
You may have valve timing off so much that your pistons are running into the valves. Bad news!

What size bolts hold the crankshaft pulley on a 2006 Kia Sorento?

I want you to go to this url, it's the official KIA forum dealing with older Sorentos.https://www.kia-forums.com/2003-2010-sorento-forum/53820-sorento-crank-bolt.html It's free to create a login.
It details the need to replace the crank pulley bolt with a new one supplied by KIA. This bolt, if reused, can break causing a catastrophic engine failure. Do not buy any other bolt., it's not worth trying to save a few pennies.I have a 2005 Sorento and had my local KIA dealer do this job and other work as long as the front cover is off, replace the water pump, the timing belt idlers and tensioner assembly. It's cheaper to d all that at one time than to go back and have to redo the cover removal. Hope this helps.

Time belt how maney miles do you change it

Hello,

The timing belt of the car is to be changed after it has run 60000 miles. Try to change it once it is approaching the 60000 miles, if not it might damage the entire engine and it will cost You a lot more to replace the engine than replacing just the timing belt.

If You need the steps to replace the timing belt, You can call back for more assistance. I will be so glad to be of assistance to You once again.

Hope this helped. Thank You for using FixYa!!!

When should a timing belt be replaced on a 2033 Kia Sorento w/ 3.5L engine?

Timing belt replacement is expensive. Usually nobody chooses to have it done, unless there a timing cover gasket fails, or some other reason to work in the area of the internal timing belt.

If you are speaking of the serpentine belt, every 45-60k.
